We're so excited about the possibility of becoming adoptive parents. Growing our family is our greatest hope. Ever since we’ve been together, we’ve talked about how much we would love to raise a child. More than anything, we’d love to share all our love with your child and help them achieve their dreams and goals. If you choose us as your child’s adoptive parents, we want you to know with certainty that they will be raised in a loving, open, and compassionate family.

We met through Elizabeth's best friend from childhood at a Barnes & Noble bookstore and knew from the start that we were meant to be together. David was immediately attracted to Elizabeth’s loving perspective and creative insights and Elizabeth fell in love with David’s warm heart, supportiveness, and generosity. Elizabeth was in graduate school in England and David was working in the U.S. when we started dating, so we spent a lot of time traveling back and forth. When Elizabeth finished her degree, she moved to Washington D.C. and we’ve been happily married for 16 years.

Differences make life interesting and we treat our differences with open-mindedness and a sense of humor. We believe there’s nothing that can’t be shared and no differences that can’t be respectfully discussed. What matters is that we share the same core values, including our commitment to adopting and raising our future child in a safe, stable, nurturing environment of profound and unconditional love.

Elizabeth is patient, smart, broad-minded, and funny and has an incredibly caring heart. I know she will make an excellent mother. She listens fully and thoughtfully without judgment and she always gives great advice. She has a special talent for engaging kids in conversation and play and she’s rarely happier than when she’s covered in glitter and glue. She teaches me and everyone around her how to lead with compassion, conviction, and gentleness.

Elizabeth grew up in a U.S. diplomatic family and lived all over the world. Her lifetime of multicultural experiences gives her a unique perspective that I really admire. More than anyone I know, she has genuine respect for other people, other cultures, and other ways. I’m always impressed when we travel how she’s able to pick up the local language and customs right away.

Because she moved around so much when she was younger, she has a deep appreciation for our home life together. She works really hard to make our home warm, comfortable, and interesting. It’s a place where our friends, family, and neighbors feel relaxed and welcome.

Elizabeth has worked as a nanny, teacher, and counselor to children all over the world. One of her proudest achievements has been helping kids and adults learn to read in a literacy program. She works part-time at home as a book editor and her absolute greatest dream is to be a full-time at-home mom for our future child.

David is expressive, honest, friendly, and a model of selfless service to others. He always makes sure everyone around him is alright before thinking of himself. He cares about people’s stories and engages deeply with everyone around him. He never says something’s impossible and always finds creative ways to make it happen. Between his reliability, his intelligence, and his can-do attitude, he’s someone you would definitely want on your team.

David grew up outside of New York City on Long Island. He’s a journalist and now works as editor-in-chief of a university magazine dedicated to publishing diverse voices. He has a very generous paternity leave and is so excited to take the time to get to know the newest member of our family.

David’s incredibly sociable and likes to spend time with family and friends. He loves exploring the world and meeting new people, and he’s always learning new things. He’s a voracious reader and loves movies, music, theater, and museums. He’s also a lot of fun! He makes me laugh like no one else, and he’s got a great singing voice. One of my greatest joys is watching him engage with our friends’ children. Within minutes, even the quiet and shy ones are drawn in by his genuine interest in them—and his capacity for silliness.

David is more devoted and caring than I ever imagined anyone could be and I am overjoyed to spend my life with him. We’re so eager to share our love with a child and I know David will treasure and support our future child with all his heart.

We truly believe our home and community will be a nurturing and supportive place for your child. We live in a beautiful house in a suburb of Alexandria, Virginia. We moved here a few years ago because the community is very close-knit and child-friendly. Our neighborhood has its own kindergarten and sponsors fun activities like Christmas caroling and a big Fourth of July picnic. We have many playgrounds, swimming pools, tennis courts, shops, libraries, and a horseback-riding center in our area, and our local schools are rated among the best in the country.

We have a large fenced backyard with plenty of room for playing and a large patio where we eat outside when the weather’s nice. Even though we’re close enough to ride our bikes to downtown Washington D.C., our neighborhood is largely protected woodland, full of beautiful deer, rabbits, and birds.

When we went to the shelter and saw this little cat who had been injured in a fire, we knew we had to rescue him. A few months and lots of love and treats later, Russell had completely healed up, his plush fur had grown back, and he was running around like a blissful little kitten. Now he loves our home, fenced yard, and all his toys, and is so outgoing, funny, and friendly. Our little treasure is very sweet and patient with all our friends’ kids.

We were both fortunate to grow up in loving, happy homes and can’t wait to provide that for your child.

Elizabeth's Family - Elizabeth’s mom had a career helping people with disabilities all over the world. Elizabeth’s dad was a diplomat. Now retired, they live a few streets away from us. Her mom writes cookbooks and makes feasts for family and friends, and her dad grows tons of fruits, vegetables, and herbs in his garden. Elizabeth’s brother also lives nearby and can’t wait to be an uncle. We spend a lot of time together, sharing meals and watching movies at each other’s houses.

David's Family - David’s mom was an actor, a high-school teacher, and a stay-at-home parent when David was little. We see her wisdom, great sense of humor, and generous-heartedness as models for our own future parenting and we cherish her memory every day. David’s dad is retired and keeps fit and active with our lovely stepmom, Silvia, who works in real estate. They’re both originally from Italy and both owned Italian restaurants, so you can imagine how amazing family meals are! We visit them regularly at their beach home in Florida.

Our parents' greatest hope is to become grandparents through adoption! All our family and friends are so excited about our wish to adopt and will be tremendous sources of love and support for your child.
