We are Denton and Kaya from Sacramento, California. We love our life together and know that having the opportunity to raise a child and share our love with them would be the most incredible gift.

When we made the decision that we were ready to expand our family, we understood that we had met later in our lives and that our path might be different when compared to a ‘traditional’ family. Although struggling with infertility and unsuccessful IVF treatment has been difficult, we do not dwell on looking back and instead believe in the philosophy of looking forward. It led us to the adoption journey which has given us hope and we absolutely know that it will provide us an opportunity to raise a child who will be cared for and loved unconditionally.

We met on the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel. Denton's radius was set at 25 miles - Kaya's was set at 200 miles. Kaya, who was working as a chemistry lab tech and living in San Jose at the time, found Denton, who was working as a dentist in Sacramento approximately 2 hours away.

For our first date, we split the distance with each of us driving an hour to meet in Stockton and our relationship blossomed from there. In the midst of the pandemic, we spent literally every weekend together making adventures and eating lots of delicious food.

Kaya moved to Sacramento in September 2021 and Denton proposed to her on Christmas 2021.

I was born and raised in Osaka, Japan as the youngest of two daughters. I moved to the U.S. when I was 18 and studied the English language at UC Irvine and another school in Los Angeles. I became a Christian after meeting a friend who preached the gospel with me.

I graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a degree in chemistry that allowed me to work as a chemical researcher for Sumitomo Chemicals in Japan and an analytical research assistant for Valqua America in Sunnyvale, CA.

I’m currently a homemaker and church volunteer who teaches Japanese language to elementary school students during the summer.

I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA as the eldest of 3 siblings. While I grew up enjoying playing baseball and basketball, my focus on academics allowed me to attend UCLA and complete degrees in Psychobiology and Economics. After working a few years as a math tutor, I attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and completed my DDS.

I have been working as a dentist in the greater Sacramento area for the last decade. I am currently working in Elk Grove, CA 3-5 days a week, which gives me great flexibility to spend time with my family and travel.

Having been born and raised in Sacramento, Denton put down roots by buying a house about a mile away from his parents in 2017. It is a 2,034 sq foot 3 bedroom, 3 bath single family home that is ready to be continuously filled with memories of happy and laughing children.

Meet Jiji, our 2 year old Maine Coon rascal who we adopted in 2021. He has a routine of jumping on his dad’s back at 5am and meowing until Denton gets up to provide him with tuna every morning.

When Jiji is not hunting hair-ties, he likes to follow us from room to room until he’s ready to fall asleep.

My sister and nephew live in Osaka, Japan. I message my sister daily on Instagram and talk on the phone with her weekly.

I am also very close with my host family, Ed and Judy, who I lived with while attending CSU Stanislaus. When my father was unable to attend our wedding due to his declining health, Ed happily stepped in to walk me down the aisle!

My parents, Beverly and Douglas, and grandmother live about a mile away from our house. My younger sister, Morgan, also lives in Sacramento with her fiancée Daniel. They both work as pharmacists and have agreed to be our child’s godparents. My younger brother visits about every other month from Half Moon Bay, CA. We are a very close-knit family with so much love to share. I truly can’t wait for the chance to expand our family and look forward to when the day we become mom and dad.

Through the Bible, we believe that we are all children of God. Even if we are not able to bear our own children, given the opportunity we can still work to raise His children with love and care before we all return to God.

Our relationship with your baby will be based on love, respect, and communication. Our role as parents is to provide guidance and support for our child to grow into a loving and caring individual who will do good in the world. We will achieve this by providing the unconditional love and support as only a parent could.

We can’t wait to make lasting family memories and start traditions both big, like annual vacations to Japan, and small, like Saturday morning trips to Costco
