Our home in Escondido, California is filled with love, laughter, a deep appreciation for the sunny, outdoorsy life that Southern California offers, and last but not least, a lot of plants. Adoption represents the biggest choice we will ever make and stands to add the most richness to our life. Building a family holds profound significance for us, and we have so much love to share. While smartphones, the internet, and social media have done a lot to connect people, they can also be very addicting and pose a threat to developing a young person’s psyche. We will encourage them to spend as much time outside, with real people, in the real world, as much as possible.

We are excited to share our journey with you. We met through mutual friends at a brunch in Dallas, Texas, where our connection was instant. Before we started dating, our friends often gathered at Will’s apartment. Every time they left, Richard would pretend to forget something just to have an excuse to return and spend more time with Will. This playful persistence blossomed into a deep connection built on shared values of love, respect for all living things, and humor. We married at historic Balboa Park and have since built a fulfilling life in sunny Southern California. Our home in Escondido is nestled in a welcoming neighborhood with lots of playgrounds and trails. Many of our neighbors and friends are also just starting to raise children of their own.

In our free time, we enjoy a diverse range of hobbies that enrich our lives and inspire us. Will is passionate about exploring the outdoors, from hiking local trails to visiting national parks across the country. Richard finds joy in gardening and sharing his knowledge of sustainable practices with others.

Travel and Adventure - Together, we love exploring different cultures, learning their history, appreciating their art, music, and cuisine, and even dabbling in learning the language.

Star Trek Convention - As a couple, we cherish traditions; one of our favorites is the annual Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas. We love seeing old friends, and celebrating our shared love for Star Trek, values of diversity, and infinite positive possibilities for humanity.

Cooking - We also enjoy cooking together, experimenting with new recipes, and creating healthy meals that nourish both body and soul. Our home is a haven of laughter and the scent of homemade dishes.

We eagerly anticipate sharing these passions with your child—whether it’s discovering new hiking trails, planting flowers, or exploring cultural festivals. We believe in nurturing a sense of curiosity, empathy, and appreciation for diversity in our child’s upbringing. Some of our favorite moments include travels to Europe to immerse ourselves in its rich history and diverse cultures; We look forward to creating lasting memories as a family on future trips.

Hi, I'm Richard. I would consider myself an easy-going, patient, and empathetic person who cares deeply about others, and is incredibly excited to become a parent.

Both Will and I have graduated from good colleges, worked hard in our professions, been successful in our careers, and have built a wonderful life here in San Diego. We own our own home in a newly built subdivision, and have met a large group of wonderful neighbors and friends, many of whom are raising their own kids for the first time as well.

I’ve developed a deep appreciation for nature, the outdoors, and the ability to grow and eat your own food. Having our kids spend time amongst the dirt and trees with their friends, and disconnected from screens and phones will be a priority for us. Getting them engaged in everyday activities from cooking, to folding clothes will help them develop good lifelong habits. Above all else, I will be very patient yet persistent when it comes to instilling good habits and values in our children.

Richard is full of love, enjoys taking care of others and appreciates the beauty of nature. He is an avid gardener, who loves life and all living creatures, from the people that surround him to the bees, butterflies, and worms inhabiting our garden. He talks to his plants and delivers extra crops of kale to the neighbors. Richard can’t stand to see anything hurt or go to waste. He has so much love and kindness to share. He has an engineering degree and a strong career - he is so smart! But, he is driven by his heart; Richard is the life of everything. He is empathetic, laid back and a friend to every living thing.

Our family includes two rambunctious kitties, Momo and Finnegan. Momo is a Maine Coon mutt, who is mostly interested in cuddles and chasing her brother Finnegan around the house. Finnegan is a little younger than Momo. He is a fluffy black cat who thinks of nothing other than filling his stomach! They’re new additions to our family after recently losing our cat of 15 years, Nibbles. We believe pets add a richness to our family.

Richard's mother, Maria, who along with her sister is adopted, brings artistic flair and compassion to our gatherings. She shares her journey of discovery and connection with her biological family, teaching us the importance of openness and understanding. Will's parents, Bill and Patty, infuse joy and wisdom during frequent visits. Richard's father, James, later married Ozzie, fostering a blended family with Richard's half-brother Christian. Michael, Richard's brother, is known for his mechanical ingenuity, particularly with his classic 1960s Mustang, a passion that captivates us all. Our extended family reflects various backgrounds, enriching our celebrations and daily interactions. Whether gathering at Bill and Patty’s house for holidays or hosting lively game nights with close friends, our home is a place of laughter and connection.

We believe a firm but nurturing style allows room to make mistakes without judgment, but provides for guidance and appropriate consequences. We prioritize academic achievement, high self-esteem and confidence, and self-regulation. As parents we understand that a child plays a pivotal role in the family, and should be offered respect, trust, and full dignity.
