Hello! We’re Mattie and Brendan from San Bruno, California, proud parents to our amazing son, Finn, whom we welcomed into our lives through adoption. Thank you for considering an adoption plan for your child. We can’t imagine the weight of your decision and wish you peace and joy in whatever you choose. If you choose us, we hope you’ll remain a part of your child’s story, knowing they’ll grow up understanding the love, strength, and bravery behind your decision. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy, a safe delivery, and all our support during this time.
Dear Birth Mother
Our Story
We are truly best friends and know that every aspect of life is better if we are doing it together. We met in November of 2013 on a dating website. Mattie swore that online dating was never for her but after finally being convinced to sign up, Brendan sent her a message that same night. We went on our first date a few days later and were basically inseparable since. Brendan proposed at the same spot where we had our first date two and a half years later. We were married in May of 2018 and feel so lucky to share such a beautiful partnership. Our relationship is full of love, tons of laughter and unending support.
Why Adoption
We always knew that adoption was going to be the way that we would start our family. We got married about six years ago and took some time to travel, explore and see the world. Then we decided to embark on the most important adventure of our lifetime about two years ago: starting the adoption process which ultimately led us to adopting our son Finn in August of 2023. We are excited to begin this journey again to expand our family and can't wait to see Finn become a big brother.
Meet Mattie
I was born and raised in San Jose, California with my parents and 1 brother. I went to college at UCLA and studied Sociology. I am a corporate event planner and am lucky enough to work from home. Family is the most important thing in the world to me and we are so blessed to have lots of family around to help support us as we are working parents. Brendan and I both have really large extended families and love spending time with all of our nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Besides quality time with family and friends, I love sports, board games, puzzles, crafting, cooking and baking. I love singing and dancing and am a huge country music lover. A few titles my friends would give me would be: designated charcuterie board maker, ranch dressing connoisseur, book lover and super hostess. But my absolute favorite title is Mama to our son Finn.
More About Mattie, by Brendan
One of the qualities I admire most about my wife, Mattie, is her selflessness. Mattie always puts everyone before herself and is constantly taking care of others. She is a truly positive person and always strives to see the bright side of things. I know I can always count on her to be there for me when I have had a bad day or just need to laugh. She knows exactly how to put a smile on my face. Mattie is very artistic and likes to do crafts and knit, she is an amazing cook and baker. I am looking forward to seeing the kids help her in the kitchen or with art projects-I know those will be special memories they can share. I knew she would be an amazing mom because of the love she shows me and others every day. But she somehow exceeded even my very high expectations. She is the picture of patience and love and I know that Finn feels so special and safe when he is with her. They have a beautiful bond and she makes me want to be a better man and father every day. I can’t wait to raise another child with Mattie by my side.
Meet Brendan
I was born in San Francisco and grew up in a suburb just outside the city—only a few miles from where I live now. I have two younger sisters, and I’m incredibly lucky to share a close bond with both of them. Professionally, I work as a Foreman for an electrical company, managing large-scale commercial projects. Academically, I earned my degree in Economics from Sonoma State University. I am a huge sports fan and love all of the local Bay Area teams—the 49ers, Giants and Warriors in particular. I also really love theme parties, hiking, woodworking, games, puzzles and anything competitive. I love to dance, laugh and have fun. Being Finn's dad is my absolute favorite thing in the world and seeing him laugh at me being goofy makes me feel like a superhero. I am so excited to take this next step and grow our family.
More About Brendan, by Mattie
Brendan is the most thoughtful person I have ever met. Brendan is the kind of person that remembers the little things and surprises you by giving you something you talked about months ago or doing that one errand you hate doing so you don't have to. I also really admire his work ethic-he is so hardworking and dedicated. He is also super handy and can fix or build just about anything. He is fun-loving and playful and the absolute best dad in the world. I know when our kids get older he will be the guy that coaches every team or volunteers for every activity because he wants to always be close to them. Finn's face lights up when he sees Brendan walk in the room and it melts my heart. He is so warm, affectionate and patient with Finn and he is a wonderful example for our son. He is a really wonderful listener and gives great advice so I know our kids will always feel seen, heard and supported by him.
Meet Finn
We adopted Finn in August of 2023 when he was just a few hours old. We had just 9 days notice between matching with his birth mother and his early arrival so it was a total whirlwind! Luckily our family and friends are amazing and they helped put his nursery together while we were away. We feel so lucky and blessed to be his parents. He is such a happy, outgoing and fun-loving boy. He loves music, swimming and playing with his cousins.

Meet Murphy
Murphy is our 4-year-old Golden Retriever and is the best friend we could have ever asked for. She loves taking walks, getting cuddles and belly rubs from Finn and playing fetch. She is so gentle and patient and wants to go everywhere we do-and she basically does!
Our Home
We live in a quiet suburb in the Bay Area, about 15 minutes from the city and 15 minutes from the beach. We love our neighborhood because it is diverse and full of young families. We live just a few blocks from a few local parks with great playgrounds and hiking trails. We have formed a great community with other local parents and families with kids and get together with them frequently for play dates, activities and special events. Our favorite part of our house is our backyard. Brendan built a large deck and gazebo and we love to entertain family and friends out there.
Our Family
We are both super close to our parents and siblings and make it a priority to see them as often as possible. Between our siblings, we are Auntie and Uncle to six kids, and we are also godparents to several of our friends' and cousins' children. Spending time with them is one of our greatest joys. We feel so fortunate to have large, close-knit families nearby! Brendan has 24 first cousins, and Mattie has 26, along with countless second cousins. With most of our extended family living within an hour's drive, holidays and family gatherings are always filled with love and laughter. We’re thrilled that Finn and any future children will grow up surrounded by so much support, and we love knowing they’ll have plenty of cousins their age to play with. Our cousins have become some of our closest friends, and we can’t wait for our children to build those same meaningful bonds and carry on our family traditions.
