We first met in the tumultuous year of 2020. As Singapore went into a complete lockdown, we swiped right on each other on Tinder. Unable to meet in person for several months, we grew their relationship via texting, video calls, and holding classes for one another (Andrew taught Billy to make lemon bars, and Billy taught Andrew yoga). On the day after the lockdown was lifted, Billy invited Andrew to his place for his famous bolognese spaghetti. The Italian part of Andrew rejoiced, and a beautiful relationship was born. After several years, we decided to take our relationship to the next level and were married in April 2024. We got married in Auckland, New Zealand, surrounded by friends from Singapore. Since becoming married, our relationship has been strengthened and enhanced and our commitment to each other is stronger than ever. We know that a child brought into our home will be well-care for, loved, supported, and given many opportunities to grow and develop into a wonderful person.

Hailing from the USA and Malaysia, we are a fun-loving, adventurous, and passionate couple. We love playing with our cats (we have 3!), biking around Denver, traveling the world, and watching “The Great British Bake Off” on a Saturday night. At home, we host dinner parties and game nights, cultural celebrations (Lunar New Year, Thanksgiving, etc.), and cook & bake frequently. We both believe in the importance of equity and justice for everyone and work towards those ends in our communities and workplaces. As a couple, we’ve been described as great complements for one another - Andrew is more structured, planned, focused, and emotional, while Billy is more spontaneous, resourceful, calm, and meditative. Together, we balance each other’s energies well and constantly grow and evolve through our interactions with one another.

We have been talking about adoption since our relationship began almost 4 years ago. We are excited and passionate about raising a child and giving them the love and support that they deserve and need. We are emotionally, financially, socially, and mentally prepared to bring a child into our home. We are a gay, interracial, mixed-nationality couple already and conceive of our family and community in a way that transcends (but also includes) biological and genetic bonds. We can’t wait to become parents and introduce our child to all of the diversity and richness that life offers.

Growing up in Malaysia, Billy learned three languages in school and eventually picked up two languages (English and Chinese) as his native tongue. After graduating from college, Billy decided to move to Singapore, which is close to his hometown in Malaysia. Billy is now an HR manager for a large multinational company. He is responsible for the health & well-being programs at work; he also ensures his friends and family embrace the same healthy living principles, such as making healthy food choices, embedding physical activities into our daily life, and taking time to care about our mental health.

Billy is a wonderful person, a thoughtful partner, and will make a fun and caring father. Billy is the most resourceful person I know- he is well-planned, thorough, and knows how to keep those around him safe and healthy. He is calm and composed and can teach a child authenticity, civility, and peacefulness. Billy is silly and playful and enjoys teaching others. With him, I feel comfortable, loved, and taken care of.

After a 10+ year career in higher education in student support roles, Andrew decided to start his own business, which he ran full-time for 3 years. In his business, Andrew was a trainer and consultant, focusing on the areas of sexual harassment & consent culture; diversity, equity, & inclusion; and restorative practices. Andrew now works at a college as an Associate Dean of Students and continues his business work on the side. Andrew is dedicated to ensuring that all people have equitable human rights and have places they can belong. This passion and philosophy inform Andrew’s interest in being a parent and raising a child that will be loved, affirmed, and supported unconditionally.

Andrew is passionate about social justice and equity. He is also a loving partner and will be the most loving father ever. Andrew is honest and trustworthy, and he will teach the child to be a tremendously compassionate human being. Andrew likes to travel, and he plans many exciting trips for us and many more in the future with our child!

After spending the first 3.5 years of our relationship in Singapore, we moved to Denver, Colorado in 2024. We live in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, within walking distance to parks, schools, grocery, and more. We are in close proximity to Andrew’s sister and her family, which includes two small kids (ages 4 and 2). We have 3 cats (Yuna, Auron, and Victoria) who are playful and cuddly. Living here, your child will be exposed to a wide variety of people, languages, backgrounds, and food!

Between us, our friend group is incredibly diverse- our friends span a wide variety of nationalities, ages, languages spoken, ethnicities, and orientations. We often spend time with friends playing board games, cooking meals together, and celebrating cultural events (such as Lunar New Year, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). We have many friends who are excited to play an active role in supporting us as fathers. We have close friends who we see on a regular basis, riding bikes together, celebrating milestones (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays) and communicating daily.

Billy’s family lives in Johor Bahru, Malaysia! His parents and two siblings are excited to welcome a first grandchild into the family and we will hope to bring the baby to visit them in Malaysia at some point within the first couple years of the baby’s life. Andrew’s family is spread across the USA, in New Jersey, Colorado, and California. His sister has 2 small kids as well, who will be close in age to your child- we are excited to have the cousins spend lots of time together (especially now that we live so close!).

As Billy is bilingual (and Andrew is learning!), we hope to raise the child in a bilingual household, where they will learn both Mandarin and English. The child’s own cultural background may inform learning a third language as well. We are both committed to raising a child in a household that is always loving and empathetic, with strong communication and conflict management skills. Andrew’s background in restorative justice informs his approach to parenting, resolving conflict with an emphasis on ensuring that the relationships remain intact and strong.

We currently fill our household with laughter, playfulness, transparency, and community- this will continue and expand when a child joins us as well. We will support and encourage our child to be who they are, minimizing our own expectations of what they should be like. We are ready and willing to provide emotional, financial, moral, and social support to our child and excited to guide them into becoming a worldly, educated, thoughtful, compassionate person.
