Hi from Los Angeles, California! We are Brit & Jonas and we’re so thankful for the chance to introduce ourselves to you. We have a big family and we love the outdoors, cooking, eating, traveling, adventure and lazing in our yard with our 2 cats. We're excited to build a family and we've always known that adoption would be the biggest part of it. Whether this is the first or last profile you read, we hope it makes you smile and most of all, gives you the comfort of knowing that you & your child will be welcomed into a loving, supportive and accepting family with open arms (and lots of fur).

Even before we struggled with infertility, when we first discussed starting a family, we knew that we wanted adoption to be a part of it. Brit has wanted to adopt since she was young and Jonas, having several adopted cousins in his family, had seen how loving, beautiful and truly special adopted families are.

We’re so excited to start our adoption journey, we can’t wait to meet you and to support you through this process, and, most importantly, create a loving and supportive family for your child.

We first met almost 20 years ago at a friend’s wedding. We instantly connected over our love of the forest, lakes, rivers and the mountains of Northern California. Also, turns out we both love (but are terrible at) country music Karaoke. We’ve traveled, cooked, eaten, laughed and hiked our way through 13 years of marriage now, bonded by our shared love for each other, food and family, other countries & cultures, photography and film, good (and bad) jokes and a lazy Sunday in the shade playing cards. And somehow it keeps getting better...

Brit is a sucker for vintage clothes and classic furniture in need of a restoration and a home (usually ours). All of the tools in our house belong to Brit who’s rarely happier than when she has a hammer in her hand and is teaching herself a new skill to improve our home, whether that’s painting, woodwork or, most recently electrical wiring! Having been an architectural photographer, she has a passion for old homes and unique architecture, always finding the beauty or style in the homes wherever we visit. Every time she walks the Silverlake Reservoir by our house she falls in love with at least one house.

Jonas is obsessed with baking the perfect loaf of bread and getting his BBQ skills just right. He loves to write/direct his own short films, stare at the stars in his telescope (anniversary gift from Brit), cooking and drawing cartoons with his niece and nephews.

We stay fit by working out and hiking as much as we can and we both LOVE to cook, eat, camp, travel, garden and host family and friends for big messy, glorious dinners. So much of what we love is built around spending time with our big group of family and friends (in both the US and Europe) and we can’t wait to make your child a part of our family, sharing our passions with them and helping them discover their own!

I grew up in Stockton, California but spent much of my time growing up in the Bay Area where most of my family was. During the summer my family would spend time up in Lake Tahoe, which is where my love of the outdoors came from. After graduating high school, I traveled around a bit until deciding to study photography in Los Angeles. I was a freelance photographer for years until I decided to go back to school to get my degree in sociology.

I love creating and working with my hands and constantly learning new skills. I adore cooking and having friends and family over for dinner, regardless if it’s a large planned meal or small and spontaneous.

I was raised by a single father that was away working a lot, so I am extremely happy to have the ability to stay home and be there, supporting your child every step of the way. I can’t wait to play and laugh with them and be there for them whenever they need me.

Brit is a playful, honest, creative and deeply loving person. She is the most loyal and thoughtful person I know and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for her family and friends, always providing guidance to them, who see her as a person they can trust and who loves them unconditionally. Brit is a creative adventurer at heart, always looking for new food to try, a mountain to hike, place to visit, people to meet or piece of old furniture to restore for the perfect corner in our house. Brit connects with the children in our lives (nieces, nephews, friend’s kids) in a way that truly inspires me. She meets them on their level and has the ability to see the world through their eyes, eager to join them on their latest adventure or helping them face their latest challenge. I admire this immensely (and I’m a little envious when she gets random “I love you” emoji texts from our little nephew.) I learn from Brit every day, she’s the ultimate partner and I know she will make an incredible mother.

I was born in Denmark but moved to Northern California when I was five, where I grew up crashing through the forest in the small mountain town of Boulder Creek. We always traveled back and forth to Denmark. I love film and went to college in LA in the hopes of making movies. I’m very proud to say I reached my goal of making one but now I pay the bills day-to-day as a Creative Marketing Producer for TV and Film.

I love to create for and with others, whether that’s storytelling, baking bread, cooking with my niece and nephew, hosting a big dinner for friends or planning a big family camping trip. I’m a “people person” and there’s nothing I love more than being with family and friends.

I’m so excited to share all of these adventures with your child, to help them discover what they love and do my best to support them to create their own amazing stories.

Jonas is thoughtful and caring in a way that I had not seen before I met him. He is incredibly supportive and patient. The way he pulls family and friends together is beautiful. He loves few things more that getting together with family and friends for camping or a big meal.

He is always there to put a smile on my face or make me laugh. His niece and nephews love the time they spend playing with him and watching him draw whatever they request. Jonas is one of the most incredible people I have ever met and I am a better person knowing him.

We live in a safe, quiet, hilly old neighborhood in Los Angeles, in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath house with a big garden in the back. There are lots of families around, large parks and playgrounds and a library within walking distance. The mountains are close by for outdoor hiking and horseback riding and the ocean is 45 minutes away. Our family and friends are our community and we have supportive and loving people all around us, including our nephews and friends with little ones. Brit is usually working hard on home improvements, while Jonas experiments on the grill, or we’re both elbow deep in the dirt planting new flowers.

With family in Northern California and the Bay Area, we consider California our back yard too and we spend lots of time throughout the year in the redwood trees, along the coast and around Lake Tahoe with family and friends.

Between us we have lots of family in town, across California and in Denmark.

Brit’s sister lives in Sacramento with our niece and nephew, who we see constantly for holidays, birthdays and fishing/swimming trips to Lake Tahoe. Jonas’ brother lives fifteen minutes away with our other two tiny nephews, who we see usually once a week to cook dinner with and build couch forts and babysit so their parents can get a much deserved date night. Grandma and Grandpa live a 5 hour drive away in Santa Cruz, but visit every few months and we spend time with aunts, uncles and lots of cousins for family get togethers several times a year. We have close cousins who were adopted (or have adopted children) so we have loving adopted families to support and guide us and your child.

Jonas’ father lives in Copenhagen, Denmark and we spend lots of holidays in the city and summers at their island cottage with Jonas’ half siblings, cousins and their kids. Having recently lived in Europe for 4+ years, they’re a very important part of our lives and will always be a source of support and love for us and your child.

Everyone in our family has the deep belief that family should always be the safest, most supportive place in the world and will always be there for anyone. We say that everyone has the “family community” of siblings, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles to turn to for love, guidance, acceptance and support no matter what. This is a value we can’t wait to share with a child.
