Hello! We are Caeli and Ryan from Washougal, Washington. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We admire your courage and think you are an amazing and wonderful person for considering adoption for your baby. Although it was infertility that led us to adoption, becoming a family has always been our goal since before we were married. We would like you to know that if you chose us, we would do our very best to give your child the most loving, caring, accepting and supportive family life we can give. We also invite you, if it is something you feel called to do, to remain in your child's life and share in their growth with us.
Dear Birth Mother...
Why Adoption?
Becoming a family has always been our goal since before we were married. After we struggled with infertility, we knew in our hearts that adoption was the way we were going to make the dream of becoming parents a reality! We have been so committed to our hopes of starting a family that it has strengthened our bond as a couple.
Our Story
Our story begins as a geeky one: we met after playing a live action role playing game in Berkeley, California. Caeli was sitting alone; Ryan saw her and called her over to join him and his friends. After each caught the other stealing glances, we knew we would soon be dating. We realized we had a lot in common including gaming, goth music, camping, trips to the coast and a love of Disney. It wasn't long after we began dating that they realized we wanted to commit to something more. And after years of planning, on October 30th, 2010, we were married.
Since then, we have visited the Disney Parks several times and look forward to the day when we will be able to bring our child with us and get to watch them experience that magic for the first time.
About Caeli, by Caeli
My friends have said: "Caeli and Ryan are extremely kind and loyal. If you need her to be there, she will. " - Martha
"Caeli has too much love and compassion in her heart. " - Maus
"Her ability to make someone feel like the most important person in the room never fails to amaze us. Caeli cares deeply and powerfully about the people in her life." - Tony
I am honored by the words of love and support that the people in my life have provided me. Just know, that I will be all of those attributes and more for your child. My thoughts on parenthood: I am both so excited and afraid of being a parent. Excited for the chance to love, guide and help raise our future child to adulthood, and afraid of how the world may treat them. I want only the best for your child, and I will do my best to love, cherish, support and protect your child with my life. I can't wait to be a mom!
About Caeli, by Ryan
I married Caeli, because I discovered early on that she is one of the kindest people I have ever met.
I love her geeky sense of humor and how creative she is. I love how she is able to create seasonal house decor to brighten up our home. I treasure her tenderness, honesty and forthright disposition. I know Caeli will be a good mom because I have watched her over the years naturally fall into "mother mode" when she is around children. It might even be the reason her friends Michael and Rachael chose Caeli to be their son's "godmother". I remember when her godson got in trouble at school and being impressed by how she handled the situation and utilized a MythBusters episode to help her godson understand what happened at school, why they were in trouble, and how to make things right again. And lastly, it takes a special kind of person to be a nurse; and from knowing some of Caeli's colleagues, I know that she is well regarded for considerate and passionate care for her patients.
Caeli's Hobbies
I love silk flower arranging, jewelry crafting, hiking, baking and Disney Pin collecting. I have also started a tea collection! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love dressing up for it, even if I have to work during the holiday.
Caeli's Values
I value someone who can be true to themselves while being respectful of others. I also value other people’s rights and privacy. I feel everyone should have the freedom to be and do as they are comfortable doing providing it does no harm to others. I look forward to taking your child to the Zoo, and Japanese Tea gardens as well as to the Disney Parks.

About Ryan, by Ryan
I’ve worked with technology most of my career. I started in tech support and have done a wide variety of things like web programming and networking. More recently I’ve been given project lead responsibilities. I work from home now and consider it a top priority for future employment opportunities in order to be able to spend the most time with our child. I’m lucky to work in a sector that supports that.
Ryan's Thoughts on Parenthood
I’m excited to become a parent. I look forward to raising a child, teaching them things that I know and watching them grow. I look forward to our future child uttering their first word, taking their first steps and going on family vacations. And growing up to be an adult any parent would be proud of.
About Ryan, by Caeli
What I love about Ryan is his honesty and kindness, He is not afraid to show how much he cares for me.
His habit is to stop what he is doing and give me a kiss and a hug when I first wake up to say, “good morning” and makes a point to kiss me goodnight before heading off to bed. He has a quirky sense of humor, and no one can purposefully caricature a place like he can! He is always there to listen and support me when I have had a “rough day”. One of the best things that I love about him, is that spending quality time together is so important to him: whether it is an outing or just a night cuddling in front of the TV. I know Ryan will make a great father because he takes such care and shows so much love and attention to our cat, Persephone. He will go to great lengths to make sure her needs are always met, and that she is included in all of our travel plans so that she is never lonely or left behind.
Ryan's Hobbies
I am very fond of building things: everything from computers to home projects to music playlists and building things with Legos. I also have loved Star Wars since a child and love collecting the figurines. Gardening as hobby, is a welcome break from being around technology, and allows more time spent outside. Even something as simple as watering can be a nice reflection point after a busy day.
I also enjoy grilling and occasionally dabbling in recipes that sound interesting -- the most recent being roasted-chai waffles. Caeli makes mouth-watering rubs, and we seem to have smoking ribs down to a science.

Home Sweet Home
We live in the small town of Washougal on the Washington side of the Columbia River, and we're just up the road from Vancouver, Washington and across the river from Portland, Oregon. It's like having the best of both worlds -- a quiet neighborhood but close to entertainment. We have discovered that one of the many things both cities can boast about are a great set of diverse restaurants. As foodies we appreciate this and look forward to introducing your child to these diverse tastes and experiences! We definitely like Portland's Zoo it is the perfect place to bring a child to learn about the animals that inhabit our world. We're surrounded by mountains, wooded areas and hiking trails and we're less than ninety minutes away from the coast. We cannot wait to go camping and hiking here at home and along the coast as a family. The area we're living in now has the highest-rated schools in the area. We like our town and hope to find our forever home here where your child will have the benefit from both the best schools and a loving home environment.
Our Cat
We brought Persephone home as a tiny kitten about six years ago. We originally named her Percy but then a vet told us Percy was actually a girl. Persephone is a gentle creature of habit who's talkative with us but shy with strangers. We know that Persephone will be gentle and loving to your child.
Caeli’s Family
Caeli's Dad is excited She and Ryan are adopting. He would love to teach them all about fishing and take his grandchild fishing on a river or out to sea.
Caeli's Aunts and Uncles are excited about the thought of having a new great niece or nephew to shower love upon.
Caeli’ s friends are looking forward to taking our future child to the movies, a museum, on a hike, or to our favorite teahouse, when they get older.
Ryan’s Family
Ryan’s Mom enjoys baking cookies with her grandson and taking him to the park, playing cars and board games. She most definitely looks forward to having another grandchild whom she can read stories to or take to the zoo.
Ryan's dad recently passed, but before he did he was thrilled to learn about our plans to adopt.
Ryan's brother would be thrilled to share his love of handcrafting, rockhounding, and ramble on about gardening and landscaping. He also enjoys a lot of the same things as his brother Ryan like camping trips, gardening and exploring nature. He is looking forward to teaching his niece or nephew all he knows about rocks and crafting as well as nurturing their love of nature.
Thoughts on Parenting
We feel that it is important that a child is aware that they are loved unconditionally and cherished.
We also feel that it is important that they know all about themselves and that also means knowing that they are adopted. We also welcome your involvement in your child's life as their birth mother. And learning about your spirituality and religious beliefs so that we can incorporate those in our home as well. We both earned our college degrees and are very proud of our education, we look forward to offering an excellent education to our future child and will always support their dreams and interests no matter what.
We Promise...
- To help them thrive by emphasizing the importance of education, ensuring they are in highly rated schools, and that we are saving for their college years
- To teach your child to be mindful and respectful of others
- A safe and secure home environment where they can gain confidence in themselves
Thank You!
