Hello! We are Carol & Don and our sons, Patrick, John and Michael. We live in Chico, California.

We want you to know that adoption has always been in our life plans. Don was adopted as an infant in a closed adoption. He has always wanted to provide the same love, support and family life he was given by his adoptive parents. As a little girl, Carol just knew in her heart that she would adopt as it has always been a part of who she is.

Don’s family happily celebrated his “Gotcha Day” every year. It was a family day with a special dinner and a movie and ice cream. Don’s family acknowledged how wonderful and loving his birth mother was to choose adoption, and how thankful they were to have Don as part of their family. It is so important that you understand that we plan to continue this tradition with our new family member. While Don was not able to legally adopt Patrick (our oldest boy from Carol’s previous marriage) he considers Don his father and calls him “Dad”.

We understand it requires strength, love and selflessness to consider us for adoption of your baby.

We met at a restaurant that Don was working at in Chico California. We had dates by ourselves but most dates included Carol’s 4-year-old son Patrick. Eventually Don proposed to Carol at Disneyland at the base of Sleeping Beauty Castle by Snow White’s wishing well during fireworks when Tinkerbell flew over.

We enjoy working in the yard together, cooking together traveling and spending time as a family. Our relationship is built on love, respect, thoughtfulness and communication.

Don has a confident smile that is charming and warm. His thoughtfulness for everyone was one of the first things about him I fell in love with. He’s been a supportive and motivating part of my life since I first met him. We tend to balance each other naturally and we make a great team. He is my sounding board and is patient and actually listens when I need to vent and he is my best friend. I know I can always depend on him. His humor is something that makes every day fun.

Don has always been involved with our boys. He was actively engaged in swim meets, working on homework, gaming, and building Legos when the boys were younger. I am so excited to watch Don become a father again.

I was born in Encino, California and was adopted at 3 months old. I do not know much about my birth parents. I was adopted through Holy Family Adoption Services in a closed adoption. I have a younger brother Marc who is 2 years younger than me. My family and I spent the first years of my life living in Anaheim (a few blocks from Disneyland) and later in Orange, California. Eventually we moved to Sacramento, California and finally to Chico California where I attended high school. My brother and I swam competitively until we went to college and made many friends through swimming.

I majored in Aviation Studies and was a pilot and flight instructor for a while. I currently work as a Registered Nurse Case Manager and am able to work from home full-time. Given that I work from home, I have a lot of time to devote to my family. I enjoy spending time improving our home and yard as we have 1-1/2 acres and I am excited to share this with our future child.

Carol is a charming, beautiful and imaginative soul. She is deeply passionate about treating others with kindness and respect. She loves children and animals and has worked with both for many years in her career. Carol loves to design and create. She has been an interior designer and loves color and nature. She always looks out for the “little guy” and even though she is tiny, she is tough. Carol is amazing when it comes to anything imaginative or design. This is especially true when she works with animals and children.

Carol has an amazing heart and always puts others before herself. She is very nurturing and intuitive to the needs of her friends and family. Carol is the yin to my yang. I am logical and direct and see a problem and immediately look for a solution while Carol thinks about things in a completely different direction than me which makes us very complimentary. Carol will thrive and give all she has to be a mother again to a baby as she does with our boys.

I was born and raised in Chico, California. I attended Chico State University and received my Early Childhood Certificate. I taught pre-school and worked as the school administrator for 8 years. After we were married (and living in Texas) and had our 2nd son John, I opened a licensed home day care. When all three boys began school, I began working as a Veterinary Technician due to my love for animals.

I am retired and have the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom to our 2 youngest sons who still live with us while attending college. I love the outdoors and I have plenty of room to plant and grow things on our large lot. I am so excited to become a mom again.

Although all three boys are grown young men, they are still very excited to welcome another child to our family. We all enjoy getting together for dinners and vacations.

Patrick (31) is our oldest. He lives in Chico about 15 minutes away and we see him a few times a week. He owns his own home, works full time and lives with his girlfriend. He and his brother are very close and they hang out weekly. Patrick is funny, kind and thoughtful.

John (24) is our middle son. He lives at home while attending college working toward a degree in Psychology and Business. He has a part time job and is looking forward to our new pool that is going to be built this month. John is quiet, funny and very mellow. He loves Star Wars and playing on his computer.

Michael (22) is our baby. Michael also lives at home while attending college working toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has a part time job at a local pet supply store and enjoys interacting with the animals that come into the shop. Michael always has a smile on his face and is willing to help out anyone who needs help.

We live in an amazing little college and agricultural town and are truly blessed to call it home. It is where Carol and Patrick were born, and where Don went to high school. We live in a gated community of about 30 homes just outside the city limits. We enjoy going to our weekly downtown Thursday night farmer’s market, and entertaining our family/friends.

Our home is large enough to accommodate another child who will have their own room and be close to everyone in our house. Our home is within minutes of one of the largest municipal parks in the United States and has many family-friendly activities.

All of our furry family members have plenty of space to enjoy the fenced outdoors on our 1.5-acre lot. They spend time indoors with us as well. All our animals are rescues or were inherited. With Carol’s skills as a veterinary technician, they are all well cared for with love and patience.

We are blessed to have many close friends that we consider family. Both of our parents are both deceased. Before Don’s parents passed, we would go on family vacations together and celebrate everyone’s birthday together. Don’s brother Marc lives in the San Francisco Bay area with his partner and dog Cheerio. They visit us often and we always go on family vacations together. We are also blessed that our closest friends and godparents to our boys now live in Chico.

Our promise from our family to you is to cherish and nurture our newest family member. We love unconditionally with patience and commitment. All of our family is excited to add another child to our household. We are dedicated to raising this child to be the best person they can be.
