Hello! We are Carolina, Romain & Francesca Jolie (aka FJ) from Santa Cruz County, California. Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about us! We are sincerely excited to meet you and learn about your desires and wishes for your child. We know that this is a bitter-sweet time, and we want you to know that we admire your courage and strength as you search for the parents for your child. Our home is filled with much love, laughter, creativity, and joy! We enjoy old and new traditions and try to experience life to the fullest. Our daughter, Francesca Jolie, is excited about the possibility of having a sibling or two! We appreciate your consideration and are keeping you and your baby in our prayers.
Dear Birth Mother...
Our Thought on Adoption
We have always envisioned adopting a child. When Carolina later found out giving birth would prove to be difficult, she was at peace with this since adoption was her preference. Later when we met, we knew adoption would be a part of our family unit. To our surprise, we unexpectedly found ourselves pregnant with Francesca Jolie! We joke that it took superpowers for this to happen since Romain was electrocuted at work the same month Francesca Jolie was conceived!
Now, we are on the adoption journey that we always intended to be on! We look forward to growing our family via adoption.
About Us
We met the modern way... online! 100 questions later and we were matched on eHarmony and have been together for 9 years! As a couple we are ambitious, while keeping life fun, and trying to experience the most of it. We like adventures—big or small, from discovering a new play park with our daughter to flying to far distant places like Japan! We are a balanced mix of being dreamers and realists. This combination keeps our relationship and life steady and exciting! We both enjoy learning and experiencing other cultures via books, cuisine, music, art, and travel. The world has so much to offer, and we are excited for the opportunity to grow our family through adoption!

Hi! I’m Carolina, by Carolina
I’m originally from Central America. I immigrated to the United States at age 3. I was raised in Santa Cruz County where I had the joy of having the mountains and ocean always within a short drive or bicycle ride. I grew up involved in performing arts, girl scouts, and community service. I carried service work into my adulthood, as well as, a love for the environment and animals.
I’ve had several kinds of animals from cats and dogs to frogs and mice! I love nature and even went to Africa on a bare-bones camping safari just so I could see elephants in their natural habitat.
I enjoy most anything creative from making puppets, playing instruments (clarinet, ukulele), to dancing around with my daughter. I love life and hope to pass that on to the next generation.

I am blown away by her dedication to our baby, she is a 24/7 mom, relentless to make sure that Francesca Jolie has everything she needs.
Carolina is very playful and likes to get into numerous “projects” with Francesca Jolie; from building a robot to coming up with the most gruesome slimes!
Carolina has been very proactive about getting Francesca Jolie involved in multiple activities including soccer, basketball, and ballet. She wants to ensure that Francesca has the opportunity to make friends and find her passion. I look forward to watching Carolina become a mother again.
Hi! I’m Romain, by Romain
I was born and raised in France near Bordeaux. I have always loved science and studied it since I was little with my microscope! My studies took me to Exeter, England, where I acquired a PhD in Biosciences. My time in the United Kingdom was fantastic; I was able to explore the countryside and learn a new language (English)! I have been so lucky to visit the world (30+ countries) with my work. I am excited to take my family to many places I’ve discovered so that I can see the excitement on their faces!
I have always been fascinated with cooking, especially baking, after all it is a type of science! As a child, my mother encouraged my cooking and baking. I spent hours in the kitchen to come up with the most tasteful and complicated cakes I could think of. I enjoy how food brings people together! I am looking forward to spending time in the kitchen with my daughter and future child and teaching them all I have learned. I’m sure they will surpass me!

More About Romain, by Carolina
Romain is a hard-working scientist and I admire his dedication and willingness to always take on challenging projects. Currently he is focused on helping to find a cure for cancers and making cures accessible to all. As serious as his work is, on most days you can find Romain playing dolls with our daughter. He makes different voices for her dolls and literally plays for hours! I find this to be endearing and special. He truly is a proud dad and enjoys his time teaching our daughter how to play soccer, ride a scooter, and baking!
As a French immigrant, Romain has brought his passion for food to our home. He will spend hours creating delicious foods and truly has a passion for showing others he cares through his baking. Cooking birthday cakes is one of his many talents!
Romain is a dynamic, movie buff, with an appreciation for music, sports, and life! He is a wonderful father and has much love to share and skills to pass on to the next generation!

Meet Francesca Jolie
Our daughter Francesca Jolie is 4, and would love to have a sibling to explore and go through life with. She is kind and loving. She enjoys dancing, playing with her dolls, creating things with play dough and spending time at the park. Francesca Jolie is hoping for a brother or sister (or both) to be a big sister to.
Our Home & Community
We absolutely love where we live in the Central Coast of California. We live minutes away from both the ocean and the mountains. The air is clean and the flora is amazing. Wildlife like monarch butterflies, sea lions, otters and whales also call this area home. We are within driving distance to the Monterey Bay area that houses an amazing aquarium for kids to learn about nature. We can also drive to the Bay Area and San Francisco to visit museums. We are surrounded by agriculture and annual famous festivals like the Artichoke, Strawberry, Garlic and Jazz festivals.
Our county has one of the oldest functioning Boardwalks (built in 1907) in the United States with rides, arcade games and a bowling alley! We live in a region full of creativity from movies filmed on location, to music and science. We enjoy that we are central to many things and a 1 hour plane ride to Los Angeles for some Disneyland fun! We are excited to share the experience of seeing and doing things as a family!
Our Loved Ones
We have a diverse family and community of friends that are ready to welcome another addition to our circle. We have family that live in California, Texas, Canada, Georgia, El Salvador, and France! The core languages spoken in our circle are English, French and Spanish! These are languages that our child and future children in our family will learn. We think having these core languages as part of their skills will help them as they make their way in life.
As a family we celebrate every holiday, go big on Christmas, Easter, St. Patrick’s, Thanksgiving and Halloween! We also celebrate holidays from the Salvadorean and French cultures. We believe in keeping traditions alive and in creating new ones!
As a family we come together to celebrate accomplishments like graduation and birthdays. We also like to celebrate milestones like learning to write letters, or running/walking a 5k! Essentially we like to celebrate life and try to make every day special.
