Hello! We are Christina, Mike and Wyatt from San Diego, California. Thank you for reading through our family profile. But, more importantly, thank you for your courageous decision to consider adoption. We can imagine how difficult this decision is for you and we want you to know that we have nothing but respect and admiration for you. We’d like to share more about our family with you to see if we’re a good fit for the future you envision for your child. We’re excited to expand our family and we promise that your child will be loved and well taken care of in a stable home.
Dear Birth Mother...
Why We Are Adopting
We met later in life and therefore dealt with fertility issues. We knew from the beginning of our relationship that we wanted to expand our family so adoption was a topic from the start.
Our Story
We met online and we texted for a couple of months before we met. Our first meeting was at the beach and it was supposed to be just a meet and greet but we ended up spending 7 hours together and stayed to watch the sunset. By our second date, at a restaurant, we both knew that it was serious. We had similar values, similar upbringings, similar goals for our futures. It was a good match! Once Wyatt approved, we knew it was only a matter of time before we got married. When Wyatt met Mike, we had just adopted a 10 week old kitten so Wyatt had adoption on his mind. He liked Mike so much, that he asked if we could “adopt” Mike into our family. We explained the difference between adoption and marriage but it didn’t matter to him, all that mattered is that we became a family. So that was it, we got married!
Hobbies and Interests
- We love to travel and explore and we have a goal to visit as many national parks that we can.
- We love Yosemite and Zion and we’re a family of avid hikers
- We also like fishing, swimming, riding horses, basically anything in nature
- Our other pastime would be theme parks. We frequent Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park and others (when we travel). We’re big into roller coasters and carnival games. Our house is full of stuffed animals that we’ve collected/won over the years.
- We spend most weekends attending Wyatt’s sporting events. We go to karate tournaments, soccer games, flag football games, and baseball games.
- We like having BBQs at our house or at a friend’s house, we go camping (in a cabin) at local campgrounds, we go on hikes, we go fishing at local lakes or just do a bike ride to our favorite restaurant down the street from our house.
- Wyatt not only has his grandparents here in town, but he has a set of grandparents in Austin, Texas and a third set of grandparents in Boston as well so we like to travel and visit when we can.
About Christina, by Christina
Hi! I’m Christina! I grew up in Camarillo, California. My parents divorced when I was young and I lived primarily with my mom but saw my dad regularly. Despite the divorce, I believe I got the best of both worlds. My mom was a school teacher and taught me to be very responsible and she pushed me to do well in school. My dad was the crazy fun guy. He was a geologist and we spent our time hiking in the hills, rock collecting, camping, fishing, exploring, and doing sports. I got my work drive from my mom and got my adventure side from my dad. I have a long-standing love of aviation and became a pilot at 17 years old. I went on to have a brief career in education but then found my way back to aviation and eventually became a professional pilot. Since I had my son, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom and it’s the best job I’ve ever had!
More About Christina, by Mike
Christina is a wonderful partner in every sense. She’s loyal, trustworthy, intelligent, and brings a lively energy to our relationship. Her fun-loving nature adds a spark to our lives, and her role as a loving wife and mother is truly heartwarming.
She constantly plans fun adventures for the family, whether it’s a weekend getaway or a local hike with a picnic at the most scenic spot. She stays on top of everything, and as a former captain she keeps things running smooth and on time. As a mother she provides such good advice and guidance to Wyatt, and I’ve learned and continue to learn so much from her as we partner together to raise a wonderful kid into a great man.

About Mike, by Mike
Hi! I’m Mike! I was born and raised in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, which is a small suburb north of Boston. I grew up in a tight-knit family, and I’m the youngest of three siblings. I moved to California in 2010, and it turned out to be the greatest decision of my life. I met the love of my life and was blessed with an instant family when we got married.
While I’ve made permanent roots in California, my Boston accent and love for Boston’s sports teams remains, much to the dismay of my wife and son who constantly correct me when I say a word with an accent. Sports have always been a passion of mine, and something I’ve always wanted to share. Even though I can’t get my son to root for Boston teams, I’m finding incredible joy watching and coaching him as he tries different activities.
Professionally, I’m an accountant and because of this my wife has assigned me as the go-to person for all math homework. I’m up for the challenge!
More About Mike, by Christina
Mike is the most kind, loving, stable, and honest man I’ve ever met. I can see that he appreciates his family and loves being a family man. He’s a good communicator so I find it easy to work though issues and daily life with him. He puts other people first and he’s a great dad to Wyatt. He works hard but I see him making the time to do homework, play ball in the backyard, go to all the sports games, and attend all the school events. I appreciate that he values loyalty, honesty, family and solid friendships. I see him as a great role model for Wyatt.
Mike’s Fun Facts
- I play guitar
- If there’s peanut butter in it, chances are I’ll love it

- I collected baseball cards as a kid, and I’m enjoying that Wyatt is getting into the hobby
- I love to play golf, and hope to get the family more involved
- I love the beach
- I have a weakness for ice cream
- I’m a Boston sports fan, Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins
About Wyatt
Wyatt is an awesome 9 year old boy! He’s super friendly and makes friends wherever he goes. He’s not shy and will try any new activity or sport. He does karate, baseball, soccer, flag football, and horse back riding. In addition to those scheduled activities, he loves to swim, go to the beach, he loves theme parks, camping, fishing, hiking and Nintendo Switch games. He’s got a sweet, empathetic side to him and has always gravitated to younger kids. Wyatt is so excited to become a big brother.
About Our Home and Community
We live in a quiet, gated community. We like our community because it’s safe and it’s in a really family-friendly area of San Diego. One of the fun things about our community is that every Halloween, they block off some streets and we have a Halloween block party. It’s fun! People go crazy decorating their homes, people hang out in their driveways to give out treats to the kids and talk to the neighbors. Our friends like to come to our house for Halloween. In addition, our neighborhood is a great place for kids. There is everything we need 3 miles away from our house or less.
Wyatt went to swim school when he was little, now he goes to karate, baseball, soccer and flag football and they’re all right by our house. We’re thinking of signing him up at a music school nearby. Having everything so close means that we can sign him up for a bunch of different activities to give him the opportunity to try new things and see what he likes and what he’s good at doing. Also, having him in so many different activities near our house means that he gets to make new friends.
Our Furry Friend, Josie
We have a 3 year old Bengal cat named Josie. She’s the sweetest cat! She plays fetch and tag, loves free-dried chicken treats, and she loves going outside in our enclosed courtyard that we’ve cat-i-fied for her with cat-friendly plants, lounges, and a water feature. Also, she has the loudest purr and she’s very talkative. She talks to us all the time and always answers you when you talk to her.
About Our Family
We have family here in San Diego as well as in Austin, Texas, Boston, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida. Christina has lived in San Diego most of her life so she has a big network of friends here locally. Ironically, her friends all had kids about the same time as she had Wyatt so it’s like having a bunch of cousins around for Wyatt to grow up with. We do a lot of events and holidays with our fiends. We have Halloween parties, Christmas parties, birthday parties, summer BBQs, camping trips, Disneyland adventures, we go bowling, go to the beach, and meet up for kid events. Our friends are supper supportive and we help each other when we need something. Mike has a larger family and a big network of friends he’s known since childhood. Most of them live on the East Coast but we try to get together when we can.
Thoughts on Parenting
We were both raised Catholic and Wyatt currently goes to a private Catholic school. So, we’re Catholic but we don’t attend regularly. We go to church on Christmas, Easter and some random Sundays throughout the year. By raising Wyatt Catholic and sending him to private school, our goal is to provide him with a good education and impart a sense of morality to him. If you choose us as your child’s adoptive parents, we will have much of the same goals in mind for your child. We want them to live a moral life, stay out of trouble, have integrity, be kind to people, learn to forgive, learn to acknowledge when they’ve done wrong, and be a productive person within their community. We want them to do well in school and explore hobbies like sports, art and/or music if they’d like. We feel that the best way to teach this is to model good behavior, encourage positive activities and consistently talk about right versus wrong and good decision making at home. We believe in honestly and transparency and if you choose us, we promise that your child will know and understand your loving act of choosing adoption.
We Thank You Again for Reviewing Our Profile
We promise you that if we’re chosen to be the adoptive family, your child will be cherished in a loving home. They will have a variety of opportunities available to them, they will go to a good school, play sports, maybe learn to play an musical instrument. Whatever they gravitate toward, we will work to ensure they have options to pursue their dreams. If medical problems come up, they will be addressed and taken care of, we will support your child though all stages and they will know their birth story from the beginning. Wyatt is not Mike’s biological child but he loves him nonetheless. DNA doesn’t matter in our house, our goal is to make a loving, supportive environment. Your child will know the loving sacrifice you made from the beginning and they will grow up in a family unit with a big brother who will make an awesome mentor to a younger child.
