Hello! We are Christine & Colin from Thousand Oaks, California. We are honored to be considered as adoptive parents for your child. We are both excited to become parents and promise to love our child with all of our hearts. We both come from loving families that live close by. We both want our future child to grow up feeling loved, safe, and free to grow up to be their own unique person. We would be honored to provide that for your child.
Dear Birth Mother...
Why We Are Adopting
We both knew early on while dating that we wanted a family. We have been unable to have a child together and are excited to be on our adoption journey. We believe that adopting will be a beautiful way to grow our family.
About Us
We met on a blind date set up by friends for brunch. Brunch is our favorite and we quickly knew that we wanted to spend more time together. When Colin came over to meet Christine’s dog for the first time, he brought giant treats that were a big hit with such a little dog!
When Colin introduced Christine to his 3-year-old niece, she was a little jealous at first to share her uncle but after getting to play with Christine’s necklace they became fast friends. She was the proud flower girl at our wedding a little over a year later. We were drawn to each other because of our shared family values as well as our love for all things breakfast related. On weekends we enjoy being home with our dog Ruby and working on house projects, Christine’s vegetable garden, or having pool parties with friends and family.
Our Hobbies
- We both now have bikes and love exploring new bike trails
- We both love hiking and being out in nature
- Colin has a big record collection and loves all music
- We love going to see live music with our favorites being John Legend and would love to see Stevie Windwood (our first dance song was Higher Love)
- We love going to comedy shows, especially improv shows in Hollywood
- Weekends are filled with family gatherings and spending time together
- We love hosting BBQs with everyone swimming and having a great time
- Trying new brunch places on the weekends is always on our list
About Christine, by Christine
I was pretty shy in high school and when I moved away to college I really came out of my shell. Now I am more of a social butterfly and love visiting friends and planning fun pool parties! I attended University of California, San Diego and lived on campus, I met two of my very best friends during this time. We like to plan girls trips throughout the year to spend the weekend eating great food, going for hikes, and getting massages.
I then went on to become a social worker working with children in foster care and really love my career. I love to be around friends and family, especially having big meals together. I got a bike for Christmas and love to go for a ride with Colin on the weekends, especially when that includes riding to a new donut shop.
More About Christine, by Colin
Christine’s smile is the first thing I noticed about her. She is tremendously kind and this can be seen by the gifts she brings to family and friends when we visit them. Her sense of humor is one of my favorite things about her, always a quick wit and makes me laugh every day. Christine loves to read. She always has a book from our library to keep her interest unless there are chores around the house that are keeping her busy. Christine is the cook of our home and she loves preparing healthy meals for us to share. But she also shares my love for breakfast and brunch so she enjoys going to favorite restaurants and trying new ones on the weekends. Our niece and nephew love to play with Christine and she frequently brings fun crafty projects for them, like painting pumpkins. Christine also loves our dog Ruby and keeps Ruby’s toy and treat supply stocked for daily playing sessions!
About Colin, by Colin
I love to build everything and use as many different tools as possible. I have a garage filled with different types of saws that I have used to remodel our home and am working on building a shelf to go under our TV. I am very handy and always try to fix or improve something after learning about it on YouTube or from my dad who is a contractor.
I also love to ride my bike and find new trails to explore. I went to college at California State University in Fullerton and now work at a law firm as a paralegal. When I am not working though, I just want to be outside working in our yard or keeping the pool ready for pool parties on the weekends.
More About Colin, by Christine
Colin quickly becomes everyone’s favorite when they get to know him. Colin is the first to volunteer to help remodel your bathroom or fix anything broken. He comes prepared with all his tools and loves to work on new projects together. Colin’s positivity is contagious and he loves to start the weekend off with a bike ride and brunch, a favorite is huevos rancheros. Colin is an amazing listener and will always want to hear about my day. Colin enjoys coming home from work and being outside to play with Ruby, clean the pool, and make sure the yard looks great. Colin is generous with his time and loves to be around his family and friends. Our niece and nephew love to rough house with Uncle Colin and play games and Legos together. Ruby gets very excited for Colin to come home and knows it is play time!

Our Home
Our Home is located in a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood in Thousand Oaks, California. We have great neighbors who look out for each other and our next-door neighbors’ teenage daughter comes to walk our dog Ruby when we have to leave for work. Ruby loves walking in the neighborhood and there are many parks within walking distance. We have big backyard with a pool, a big vegetable garden, and some fruit trees. Summertime is our favorite, to BBQ dinner and have a late swim outside. On the 4th of July we can see the city’s fireworks show from our backyard, which fireworks are Christine’ favorite! We are less than 30 minutes from Malibu and enjoy going to the beach to walk around and have a picnic.
Meet Ruby
Ruby is our playful 2 year old dog. She is full of personality and always ready for a belly rub. She loves to have visitors in the home, especially if they want to play with her and her toys. She also loves a car ride and going to visit Christine’s parents that have a dog and a big backyard to run around in.
Our Family
We are the lucky ones to have a pool so our extended family loves to come visit! Our niece and nephew and friend’s children love our pool floaties, squirt gun fights, and jumping in the deep end. Christine’s brother loves to bring his little wiener dog to go swimming with her life jacket on. Having a fun meal as a big group is always fun, Colin’s brothers are great cooks and Christine’s mom loves to bake.
Favorite Family Traditions
Colin’s family has a special Thanksgiving tradition that we can’t wait to share with our children. Colin’s dad writes everyone a funny poem about each person and before eating dinner, everyone reads their poem aloud. Everyone is laughing and then we have a delicious meal together.
Christine’s family loves to play games when getting together. One game is Left, Right, Center with a dice that you roll and you play for money or a prize. It can get very loud and Christine’s Grandma is really good at this game! Bingo is also a favorite and usually has a theme, like Easter Bunny Bingo. This year Christine won twice!
Our Final Thoughts on Parenting
- We believe in creating an environment that is safe and filled with unconditional love. Children are sponges and learn from their surroundings, which is why modeling kindness is where we will start with parenting.
- We envision eating dinner as a family every night, talking about our days, and creating special family time to connect. We want to create a home environment in which we are a team, tending to our garden, then cooking meals together, and cleaning up together.
- We want our home to be filled with laughter and fun, being playful, dancing to music and singing loudly. Weekends will be filled with family adventures, going to parks, bike rides, the beach, and visiting family and friends.
- We promise as parents to honor our child’s adoption story and that is why open adoption is feels right in our hearts. One way we plan on doing this is by learning about your family traditions that you wish to pass along, that we can then incorporate into our lives.
In Closing
We are grateful for all the blessings in our lives, from our families to our home and know in our hearts we are meant to be parents. Our promise is that your child will be loved unconditionally and immersed in our lives in such a magical way. Our intentions as parents are to provide a safe home that is filled with love, laughter, and all the opportunities to express themselves fully. Adoption is a life-long journey and we look forward to building a relationship full of respect and love with you that will continue to grow as we walk this journey together. We can’t wait to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
