Hello! We are Hayley & Ross from Marina Del Rey, California. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering us for the adoption journey for your child.
We have been best friends since we became a couple 15 years ago and have built a wonderful life together. We are extremely excited to start the next chapter of raising our child and creating a world of adventure, opportunity, safety and joy as a family.
There are no words that we could write to truly express how grateful we are for you to consider us. We understand how big a decision this is and how hard it must be. If we are lucky enough to be picked by you, you can trust that we will love this little miracle unconditionally and surround them with support and love forever.
We are both from Scotland and met during college where Ross studied Accountancy and Hayley studied Biology. We began dating in 2007, and after graduating from school, we decided to move to London in pursuit of the big city. Ross proposed to Hayley with a scavenger hunt leading to the ring, and then we got married in December 2012 in Scotland.
At the beginning of 2013, Hayley got a job opportunity in Santa Monica, California. We began our life in America, and over 10 years later, we have continued to grow roots in sunny California.
We live a 5 minute drive to the beach, and love to take our dog Sophie on a morning walk before we both begin work. We like being outdoors and taking advantage of the sunny weather every day! We both have a great work life balance, fulfilling careers, and wonderful furry children, but we have felt something was missing.
We tried to get pregnant naturally and it didn’t work, and we have considered IVF but as soon as we researched adoption, we both knew that this was the best way to start our family.
Hayley is going to be an incredible mom. She is loving, kind, and a very caring person. Wherever she goes, children seem to gravitate towards her, she has incredible fun energy.
Her nieces and nephews love spending time with her — whether that’s when they are making their favorite breakfast together, doing arts & crafts on the dining room table, or creating memories at the zoo or Legoland!
I grew up just outside of Glasgow, Scotland, and was raised by my amazing parents Jim and Avril. I couldn’t ask for better parents. They worked hard to give me opportunities that they never had growing up. As a kid, I had a fascination with science, which led me to studying biology. I managed the largest biotech events in the US, and have recently joined a space company to work on creating events and experiences for future astronauts, and I love my job.
Ross is the most wonderful and caring person I have ever met, and he makes me laugh every single day. I wouldn’t want to go through life with anyone else.
Our nieces and nephews absolutely adore him, and I know he will be the best dad ever. He makes every day happy, gives the best bear hugs, and always puts me first.
I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland alongside my identical twin brother Jonathan. I was raised in a loving and caring home by my mum, Myra, a nurse and my dad, Edward, a policeman. I spent my childhood riding bikes, climbing hills and playing soccer.
I work as an accountant at a financial services company who are very flexible in terms of work schedules. The school run will come first with work fitting around some of the most important times in children’s days like breakfast and drop offs.

We bought our Marina Del Rey home in 2018, and we are fortune to live a short drive from the beach. We have three bedrooms we would love to expand further into! We often find ourselves at the breakfast bar or watching a movie on our extremely comfy sofa! We love cooking dinner together, reading books in our garden area and playing at the pool when it’s hot outside. We enjoy going to the dog park and playing paddle tennis at the nearby park which has a great children’s playground and public basketball courts.
The area we live in has a lot of great outdoor amenities, and because it’s always sunny, we get to discover all the different restaurants, hikes, and coffee shops in the neighborhoods around us.
Sophie, our Bernese Mountain dog is nearly two years old, and the sweetest dog in the world who fills our home with great energy and happiness. She makes friends wherever she goes, and loves to steal food from her mom’s plate when she’s not looking. She loves all children and always politely asks them for a belly rub.
Daphne, our little white Scottish Fold cat is one year old, and has settled in really well with Sophie and Olive. She is adventurous, playful, and always hungry. Daphne is the first one of our pets to greet you at the door.
Olive, our little grey Scottish Fold cat is three years old and is very affectionate and friendly. She loves snuggles, salmon, and sun! We even take her on some hikes in her cat backpack like the queen she is!
Although our family lives in Scotland, we are very fortunate that we get to travel back to see them every year, and they come to visit us often as well. We have three nephews – Jack (17), Tom (7), and Joel (3), and a niece Cora (5). We’ve had the best time taking them to Disney, watching live sports games like basketball and football, and having fun on the beach together. They love spending time in California with us.
We are both close with our parents and have the best and most supportive brothers and sisters. Our parents come to visit once a year, and we just love exploring California with them and creating magical memories. We also holiday together going to Italy and Hawaii among other places with both sets of parents.
We have great support system of friends who we like to make brunch for, go on hikes with, and vacation with. We have a strong bond with several couples who have supported us greatly as we started this journey and they are beyond excited to meet the new arrival.
One of our most important values is to treat others with empathy and respect, treating them as you would want to be treated yourself.
We have a wonderful life together, and are so lucky to have great family and friends, but we are looking forward to the next chapter that includes loving and raising our child.
We both have amazing parents that have set great examples to help us parent our child. It is important to have discipline and routine, but we will also make sure there is lots of time for fun and creativity.
We promise to love them unconditionally, provide a nurturing environment, and give them all the support and guidance they will need through all stages of life.
Most importantly we want to have fun everyday — playing together with toys, visiting the park, having beach picnics and the thought of having children’s laughter in our house makes our heart happy. We love spending time with the kids around us and want that to become the biggest part of our life as we go into our future together.
Thank you doesn’t even begin to express how grateful we are to be considered part of your adoption journey.
Your strength, courage, and selflessness, will be qualities we will make sure we instill in our child and that they learn about and understand from the day they are born. The greatest example of these qualities we will talk about is from their birth mom.
We are ready and excited to begin raising our child with openness, consideration, kindness, and lots of fun. Thank you for taking time and reading about our life.
