Hi! We are Joe and Kathy from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to learn about us and the kind of people we are. We hope it will give you a sense of the strong and loving family we have to share with your child. We can’t imagine another word to describe you other than courageous. You have the courage to seek out the best possible life imaginable for your child, even if it’s with another loving family. That’s true courage.
Dear Birth Mother...
Why We're Adopting
After 25 years of marriage and being unable to have biological children of our own, we are excited and passionate about the prospect of welcoming an adopted child into our lives. We have always dreamed of extending our family and can’t tell you how much we are looking forward to the experience of being parents. Our promise to you: be loving and supportive parents even when it’s not easy, to take the good with the bad and make it better, and to lead your child by the hand in becoming the best adult they can be.
About Us
We're high school sweethearts! We met when Kathy was a freshman and Joe was a junior and became very close friends for years prior to dating, traveling in the same circle of friends.
We didn’t start dating until Kathy was a senior and Joe had already graduated. We even went to the prom together. After graduation, we learned that being apart just wasn’t an option. So naturally we attended the same college and even worked together.
After 4 years of dating and discussing marriage, we decided to take the next step and get engaged. At a family gathering for her birthday, Joe put the ring into Kathy’s piece of birthday cake, not thinking that she might bite into the ring. But that’s just what happened. After the initial shock of seeing it was her engagement ring in her mouth, Joe got down on one knee and proposed. The rest is 25 years of beautiful history and counting.
About Joe, by Joe
I grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh with my mom Janet, dad Bill, and two brothers Tom and Mark. I love being outdoors and look forward to spending time with Kathy and a child of our own. I work for a property management company as a Lease Analyst. I oversee all rent aspects of multiple client’s portfolios and report back all my findings to the client. Basically, I’m their eyes and ears for their financial obligations each month. I currently work from home and am loving it. I have the flexibility to adjust my schedule to accommodate my life/work balance as needed. My favorite quote is “You never know what you can do until you try” from C.S. Lewis.
Joe Loves
- Watching movies (anything Marvel Universe or Jurassic Park to name a few)
- Summer
- Ballroom dancing
- Hot chocolate
- Family time at our camp
- Amusement parks
- Watching the Steelers play football
- Playing with our cats
- Anything comic book related (I am a HUGE comic book fanatic)
- All breakfast foods (my favorite meal of the day)
About Joe, by Kathy
Joe is my best friend, first and foremost. When I met Joe, what struck me most were his eyes. They are the most beautiful shade of blue I have ever seen. But more than that, they are soft and caring, which says a lot about his beautiful, caring soul.
Joe has the most relaxed and easy-going demeanor of anyone I have ever met. He is the only person that can and ever could calm me with just a gentle touch or a caring look. He astounds me every day with his capacity to love and ability to care about everyone above himself. Joe likes to volunteer in our community because of the impact it has on others’ lives. That speaks volumes to me. I see the way he is with our friends’ kids, our niece and even our cats. But most especially with his own mother. He would move heaven and earth for her, and I love that about him. I’ve always known Joe would be a great dad and I can’t wait to see that happen.
About Kathy, by Kathy
I grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh with my dad Bill, mom Sylvia, and one older sister Marilyn. I still live in the same suburb I grew up in because I love it so much.
After college, I got a job with a large financial firm specializing in the mortgage business and then worked with the stock market for 17 years. Today I am an analyst in the Risk department. I love what I do and the company I work for! They allow me the flexibility to work from home and have a life/work balance that I believe is vital to a happy, productive life. I had a very close relationship with my parents, who unfortunately both passed away, and look forward to becoming the parents they were for me. I look forward to sled riding, going to our local amusement park, family barbeques and having family talks around the dinner table every night, just like my parents did with me. My favorite quote is “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” by Eleanor Roosevelt.

About Kathy, by Joe
Kathy is the smartest person I know. She is the person I turn to when I have a problem and she always has an answer. She makes me smile every day.
She is the most fierce, loyal friend you could ever hope to have. She goes out of her way to make sure I feel special and loved. Everyone gravitates to her when they want advice or just to talk. She will be a wonderful mother because she will do everything in her power to help your child grow into a smart, strong person. She is a great cook and loves to try new recipes that she finds online or gets from a friend. She loves snuggling up to watch a movie with me and a bucket of popcorn. She may not be the most graceful person, but I love to see her ballroom dance. The glow on her face as we go around the room is infectious. She has this sparkle in her eye when she smiles that warms the entire room. I can’t wait to raise a child with Kathy by my side!

Hobbies and Interests
We truly like spending time together. Most of our days are spent together doing everything from working a room away from each other (we work from home currently) to cleaning the house together and everything in between.
One of our favorite things is sitting down for lunch and watching “Friends”.
We both enjoy amusement parks and everything that goes along with them. We love to ride, eat amusement park food (our favorite is French fries with gravy) and play games.
Something we were both just recently introduced to was Ballroom dancing. We weren’t sure if it was something for us, but now we’re hooked. We have met so many wonderful people from all different walks of life, ages, and backgrounds, that we will never stop dancing. We are happy and secure in our relationship, are emotionally mature and stable, and feel secure in our careers. The only thing missing is a beautiful addition to our family. We are so very ready to share our lives and give all of our love to a child.
Our Home
We live in a family-oriented suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our neighborhood has a small-town feel while being only a short 10-minute drive outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Pittsburgh.
That’s what drew us to it. You see all the kids in the neighborhood playing on a neighborhood basketball hoop and kids riding their bikes up and down the street. We own a three-bedroom, 2-bathroom house on a street with friendly and ethnically diverse neighbors. Of course, everyone knows everyone’s name. We even know each other’s pet’s names. Handing out candy on Halloween is so much fun in our neighborhood. We have a great fenced in backyard for playing and nice patio for cookouts. Within walking distance of our house, there is an elementary school and 2 large parks with a community water spray park. Our community is a wonderful place to raise a child!
Meet Our Loving Pets, Thunder & Lightning
We rescued our two beautiful tuxedo cats, Thunder and Lightning, 12 years ago from our local animal shelter.
What immediately struck us about them was that they were cuddling in the cage, paws wrapped around each other and all. It was the most adorable site to see. They have been inseparable ever since. Lightning is so full of energy. Thunder is quite the opposite. He’s always been a calm, cuddly kitty. We are sure Lightning will keep your child entertained with his endless energy and Thunder will be our little nursemaid.
Our Village
We are lucky that both of our immediate families live close by and are a huge part of our lives. We have been close with many of our friends for over 20 years, so they are like our second family.
We can call on them any time for anything. We are even close with many of their parents and their families. We attend our friends’ family functions almost as much as our own. We don’t distinguish a difference between friends and family. We feel family is not just biological, it’s who’s in your hearts.
We love seeing our extended family as much as possible (Joe is one of 36 cousins and Kathy is one of 12 cousins). We might not be able to see them all as much (some live in different states), but we Zoom as much as possible. Holidays are a very big deal in our house. Kathy loves to cook big holiday meals. She cooks for every holiday, but Thanksgiving is her favorite. We enjoy decorating and having as many friends and family over as possible. Some call it chaos; we just call it fun. Our closest friends can’t wait to be called (unofficial) Aunt and Uncle and for their children to gain a new best friend. The children in our lives range in ages from 3 months old to 25 years old, and there are more coming all the time. Our future child will have family around no matter what we do or where we go, and we can’t wait to see it!

Thank you for taking the time to learn about us! No matter what your decision is, we pray you make the right decision for you. It’s beautiful souls like you who make it possible for people like us to fulfill our dreams of becoming parents. We honor and appreciate you for that.
