We have always wanted a big family. After many years of fertility treatments, we realized that we cannot have biological children on our own. However, our desire to have a big family is stronger than ever. In fact, from the beginning of our marriage, adoption has always been one of the ways to expand our family. We cherish the miracle of adoption. We have so much love to offer and we hope that our profile gives you peace in the decision you are making.

We met each other in New York City where Juri was living, at that time Van was living in Louisiana.

We have shared our laughter and grief many times in our lives. Van came from Greece and Juri came from Japan. We came from totally different backgrounds, but we feel so close to each other and we both knew we were soulmates. On July 8, 2008, which is Juri’s birthday, we tied the knot at the City Hall in NYC. We have been happily married and together ever since!

We adopted a beautiful baby girl, which we named Sophia, in October 2019. She has brought us so much joy and happiness! Now we are pursuing adoption again to grow our family and we know Sophia will be such a great big sister to your child.

I was born in Greece. My grandfather was an elementary school teacher and he was the most important person in my childhood. He taught me the love for science, history, literature, nature, and gardening. I believe this is why I became a university professor of Computer Science. I have always been the most goal-oriented person in any group. I like to plan well and to slowly but steadily reach my goals. With my patience and determination, I am proud to have achieved many goals that my family could have never imagined. I hope to pass my talents and skills to our children.

My schedule is very flexible to accommodate my personal and professional lives. I often work from home. I will be at home many hours each day because of my flexible work schedule to raise our children.

Van is the most caring, loving and dignified person I have ever known. Van helps me to achieve many goals that I had never imagined were possible. I am very happy to have him in my life. Van is a very patient and loving father for Sophia. He loves to play with Sophia and she laughs with daddy’s jokes all the time! I know that he will be a wonderful father to your child, too.

I was born in Japan. My grandfather was an artist, which nourished my love for painting at a very young age. Painting has always been one of my biggest passions in life. While I still find time to enjoy painting, I also enjoy cooking, gardening and making pieces of pottery. I love to help Sophia develop her own creativity and imagination and cannot wait to do the same with our second child too!

I work from home as a computer programmer / researcher. When the new baby comes to our family, I will be able to devote lots of time and adjust my schedules as needed.

Juri is the most kind, patient and beautiful person I ever met! Juri’s imagination and creativity are amazing in many ways. When Juri devotes herself to something, she achieves incredible goals.

Juri is a wonderful mother for Sophia. She dedicates much of her time to be with Sophia. Juri is not only a loving mother but also an excellent nutritionist, personal athletic trainer, compassionate teacher, and a playful friend for Sophia. I am certain that Juri will love and take care of your child the same way!

In October 2019, we welcomed our first child, Sophia, through adoption. Sophia is very smart, cute and cheerful. She makes us laugh all the time and will be such a great big sister! She will also have adoption in common with your child.

Sophia’s love for dancing is beyond words! We run together and we swim together at the neighborhood’s huge pool. She also likes to see us making drawings and she tries to repeat them. She is developing an artistic talent already. There is no space long enough to describe all the fun we have together as a family!

Our dog, Findley, joined our family in January 2019. He loves to sing. Whenever he hears ice cream trucks playing music on the street, he starts howling! Sophia and Findley play together all the time and they are the best friends!

Our cats, Tigris and Leon, joined us in 2013. Tigris is the most loving and kindest cat we have ever met! Leon loves to show off his high jumps. He loves to get all of our attention! They are great with children too!

Our home is in a family-friendly neighborhood in the capital city of Louisiana. We have a large, fenced backyard with a beautiful garden overlooking a lake where we like to kayak and fish. Our community has a gated park with a huge pool and a tennis court. One block away from our community there is a large public park.

Sophia loves taking walks in our backyard and feed the ducks in the lake. We all love our home and feel safe. We are certain that our second child will feel safe and loved here as well.

Nothing comes before our family. Spending time with family is the ultimate happiness for us. We also love to be with our extended families and friends. Although our extended families live abroad, we get together as much as possible. When we welcomed Sophia from the hospital, there were several hands to help us. Juri’s sister, Mini, immediately came from Japan to help.

We have wonderful friends that we can call them “our family” who live in our neighborhood. We spend holidays and weekends together with family and friends.

We prepare special meals for each holiday to share with our friends. We celebrate New Year’s Day with traditional Japanese dishes that Juri prepares. We bake lamb with a traditional Mediterranean recipe for Easter. Juri marinates Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys using her amazing brine and we all work together to cook. Van is an expert for BBQ. Since we live in Louisiana, we also enjoy Cajun / Creole food. We all love to be at the table to spend joyful time together!

We believe that raising children is one of the most rewarding experiences in our lives. Indeed, Sophia makes us proud of being her parents every single day!
