Hello, from Redondo Beach, California. We are Gerard and Kimberly along with our dog, Max. We would love for you to get to know our family better as we take this journey together. We honor you and want the best in the world for your child. We are prepared and will cherish the opportunity to give your child a safe and loving home full of acceptance and belonging. This will be our first child, but they will be amongst several cousins, doting aunts and uncles, and loving grandparents. Thank you for considering us!
Dear Birth Mother...
Our Story
We met in August of 2018. Our places of work were relatively close together but as we discovered we lived on opposite ends of Los Angeles County. Yet that was no challenge to our determination to see each other. We were married in May of 2020 with the support of our closest family and friends. Our theme was “Love Isn’t Canceled.”
This defines who we are and what attracted us together in the first place. We believe that when we love someone, we will go to the ends of the Earth for them. We enjoy traveling and cherish sharing time together experiencing life from flight lessons to feeding otters together. Joining us on these adventures is our fluffy dog, Max.
Why Adoption?
We have both wanted to adopt our entire life. Adoption is not a backup plan for us; it is the plan. Our family contains several adoptions and all our lives have been fuller for this. If chosen, your child will grow up amongst a grandmother, an uncle, and two cousins who were all adopted.
Our Hobbies & Interests
Our typical week involves doggy agility training and nightly dog walks as we joke and discuss the homes in our neighborhood. We often debate which home is more likely to have a secret passage that is revealed by pulling a book on a shelf.
We love to enjoy each other’s presence as Gerard writes stories and Kimberly experiments with new recipes. Our favorite type of gift to give each other are activities we can share. Whether that be feeding otters, flight lessons, Broadway shows, walking scavenger hunts, road trips to the mountains, or annual trips to Disneyland. It is our dream to one day be able to read the Lord of the Rings to our future child each night, to share the joys of being a puppy owned family and sharing these types of activities with them. We also look forward to coming to know their personality and what activities will bring them joy.
About Gerard, by Gerard
I work in immunotherapy for which I am passionate about. I enjoy spending my time writing, doing home improvement projects, and dog walking and training. I want to give my future child the opportunity to explore the world with as much commitment to a favored set of hobbies as she may have, whether that be reading, writing, sports, art, or dance.
I have close friends who I socialize with via video calls constantly. I am a huge friend of technology and have found working from home to be a viable form of employment. I plan to extend this further to nearly 100% work from home following parental leave once our future child enters our lives.
Gerard’s Favorites
- Watching and sharing YouTube and TikTok videos of small content creators and artists
- Binge watching comedies
- Favorite holiday season is Winter and my favorite holiday tradition is watching Muppet’s Christmas Carol
- Writing short stories
- Letting Kimberly plan fun and elaborate trips and experiences for us to go out and do
- Visiting with my international friends via Zoom calls
- Home improvement projects
- Every few years I attend Comic Con with Kimberly. I have enjoyed meeting and attending panels for creators like Steve from Blue’s Clues, LeVar Burton from Star Trek and Reading Rainbow, Stan Lee from Marvel, and many others.
About Gerard, by Kimberly
Just like me Gerard is very close with his family. This was one of the reasons that drew me to him while we were dating. On our first date I enjoyed seeing how much he lit up talking about the times he spent with his niece and nephew. His family has expanded since that first date, and there are now 2 more nieces and one more nephew. I love watching him interact with them whether it is playing board games or carrying the little ones around Disneyland to give his siblings a little break.
Gerard loves to tell Dad jokes and while outwardly I roll my eyes at him, I enjoy his silliness and can’t wait to see him joking around with our future child. He is a very loving and supportive husband and I know he will be a loving and supportive dad.
About Kimberly, by Kimberly
I grew up in Barstow California with my older brother and parents. Growing up my parents kept me engaged and encouraged me to participate in ballet and tap dancing. We spent personal time together taking walks and playing board games. My parents always made sure that we felt loved and supported. They encouraged our talents, hobbies, and interests. They were always there to cheer us on during every performance, recital, and competition.
As an adult my interests moved towards the arts. I love going to the theater and local art museums we have in Los Angeles. I am a fan of traveling locally and abroad, having traveled to Canada, Mexico, and over 10 states.
I am looking forward to learning what hobbies or interests our future child will have and I plan on encouraging and sharing their passions with them. Like my parents, I want to make special one-on-one time with our child and introduce them to new places and experiences. I work for a preschool where we plan to have our future child attend one day.
Kimberly’s Favorites

About Kimberly, by Gerard
Kimberly is by far the most patient and compassionate person I have ever met. She has risen to each new challenge life has given her; from taking care of her parents as their health has begun to decline, training her very first dog, or managing the properties her family owns. She always wants the best for her loved ones.
In anticipation of becoming a parent Kimberly has taken up cooking as a hobby and already has our future child’s room set aside. She has bonded with my mother over shopping for baby clothes. Her passion is why I fell for her in the first place. When we first met in person, we had to be asked to leave the restaurant because we were talking after lunch for nearly 4 hours sharing stories of the things and people we are passionate about. Since meeting my nieces and nephews she instantly became Auntie Kimmy and is adored by them all.
Meet Max
We take our dog Max, on walks during our work-from-home lunch breaks and again in the evenings where we often see other families walking their dogs.
Our Home
We live in Redondo Beach, California, about 10 minutes away from the beach. We often enjoy visiting the Redondo Beach pier where we had our first date at Tony’s on the Pier.
Our family home has a moderately large back and front yard with citrus fruit trees and grass where we plan to put in a playground area once our future child is older. Our home is in a residential community, and we are one block away from the local elementary school and public park with two large playgrounds, soccer and baseball fields, and tennis courts. We each work about 10-minutes away from home, with 3 days a week where at least one of us is working from home.
Family & Friends
We were both raised within small and close-knit families that have grown in recent years. Despite being the same age, Kimberly is the youngest and Gerard is the eldest of our families, respectively. We spent the last two years caring for Kimberly's aging parents, while Gerard's mother, being younger, spends her time doting on our nieces and nephews.
• Our future child will have Instant best friends in their cousins, all between the ages of 1 year to 14 years old.
• Between our two families, there are four people that have been adopted.
• Both of our families all live within a two-hour drive from our home.
On Parenting
Our primary philosophy for raising a child is Simple; Everything we do must be done with love and compassion. No child is ‘bad’. Our future child will be raised in a family where they can trust us as parents. No matter how bad something may seem, they will know we are there for them, we love them, and they have no reason to be fearful. We are proactive and firmly believe in education and family bonding. As parents, it will be our job to create an environment where doing the right thing is praised. We will build trust between us so they feel safe and can talk to us when they make mistakes that inevitably happen in life. We do this by putting honor and reward towards telling the truth.
In Closing
If chosen, we become part of your family as much as your child’s. We know this is not an easy decision. We are open to continued communication with you if that is what you wish, and we will always honor you as our child’s mother. We will speak of your love for them which helped create our family and fulfilled our lifelong dream of become parents through adoption. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us, we cannot wait to meet you!
