We live in a suburb of Seattle, surrounded by our entire extended family – great grandparents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and pets – this incredible family support system will welcome your child with open arms and warm hearts.

We are a unique couple and family for a variety of reasons. We met 12 years ago through our jobs, we enjoyed working together and became fast friends. When Kym left the company to pursue her career, we decided it was about time we started dating!

Opposites do in fact attract! Kym is the quintessential analyst and planner. Tom the creative dreamer. We’ve found through our relationship that with an open mind, mutual respect, and a willingness to compromise we can lean into our collective strengths and enrich each other’s lives.

We dated for 3 years before getting married in a small mountain town in Washington State. We had always planned to have at least 2 children and were ecstatic when we became pregnant through IVF. The pregnancy was difficult, and our son was born 14 weeks premature, spending his first months in the NICU. This experience taught us how to love deeper, overcome difficulties and deeply appreciate the wonder of life. We truly want to grow our family however the physical risks (to Kym and baby) with another high-risk pregnancy are simply too great.
We believe that adoption has presented itself as a wonderful way to add to our family, care for your child as our own, and bring compassion and love to the world.

I am Island-born, Midwest-grown and West Coast-settled with a passion for family, culture, and food. I was born in Hawaii along with my younger sister, Karen. My mother Lisa is from Germany with a love for cooking. My father Robert is an archaeologist and studied ancient Hawaiian culture. Both instilled in me the desire to explore and embrace other cultures. My exposure to art, science and architecture set the stage for my future career as an architect.

After graduating from Arizona State University, I moved to Seattle to begin my professional career as an Architect. I then met my first wife and we started a family, having and raising three amazing boys together. To me, being a father is the most important and blessed thing in my life. Fast forward to today, I am now with my life partner, Kym, with an amazing 6 year-old son, Joe, and three grown boys who are thrilled with the prospect of adding to our family.

I work for a national design firm, working mostly from home. The flexibility of my schedule gives me the opportunity to spend hours each day, and all weekend, with our children - playing sports, going for hikes, cooking together and sharing the joy of family. Through our varied experiences, we know how to balance work, play and learning to get the most out of life.

Tom is an amazing dad. He loves inviting the cousins over for playdates, planning fun adventures or projects, and helping with the day-to-day like bath-time, reading stories, and volunteering at school. Bonus – he uses his architecture skills to build some amazing forts! He is always looking for new projects and adventures to experience as a family.

What I admire most about Tom is his genuine love of life. He is always looking for something new to experience – new hobbies, new books, new styles of cooking, new friends. He wants to experience life to the fullest and his sense of spirit and adventure is a true blessing to our family. He is an amazing father to his children, and I know that our next little one will have a full and rich life and I can’t wait to see what adventures Tom has in store for us!

I grew up in a small town about an hour south of Seattle, Washington with my parents, sister, and brother where we all still live. Family is extremely important to me and I love that we all are raising our families within 15 minutes of each other.

My mother instilled a love of animals in me and, if I could convince Tom, we would have a house full of pets! I love horseback riding and anything outdoors - hiking, boating, or even drawing with sidewalk chalk while sitting in the sunshine. I am the family photographer and enjoy taking and sharing photos of the fun adventures we go on as a family.

During the week, I work as a manager in the technology department of a large telecom company. I love my job, my teams, and our company’s purpose. Tom and I both work from home and are fortunate to have a lot of flexibility with our jobs. I will take the maximum allowable leave to bond with our newest addition to the family and take advantage of 5 weeks per year of vacation.

Kym is an incredible partner and best friend, simultaneously compassionate and pragmatic. I am in awe of her skill and passion as a mother, especially how she is able to balance love, learning, discipline, and affection. I love Kym’s energy. She is constantly in motion, planning the next thing, and the next, and… (you get it). She is an amazing mother and I can’t wait to see her become a parent again.

We have one amazing little boy, Joe. Although he had a rough start as a preemie, Joe is now a thriving, inquisitive, and joyful 6 year-old. He is curious, kind, smart and full of love. His favorite activities are art projects, cooking with Tom, playing with his cousins, and seeing his friends at school.

Joe has such a tender & loving soul. When asked what he likes most and least about school this year, he said he doesn’t like that during fire drills he can’t wave ‘hi’ to his cousin Hudson and that makes him feel bad. Hudson is the only student that uses a wheelchair and talker, and it is important to Joe that he feel included. Every night before bed he prays for a baby sister or baby brother - he is so excited to be a big brother!

We had the privilege of raising three boys from Tom’s first marriage, Jackson (26), Mitchell (23), and Daniel (20). All three are curious, artistic and passionate.

Jackson is the social magnet and spends most of his free time skiing the back country. Mitchell is more reserved and artistic with incredible musical talent. Daniel is an avid fisherman with a kind and gentle heart. Jackson and Daniel absolutely love their little brother, Joe, and welcome having another sibling to share their love of the outdoors. We are fortunate to have them in our lives as big brothers.

Family is the core of our life. We are fortunate to have our families so close, so our daily life involves our family, whether it be at school, family dinners, play dates on the weekends, watching non-stop Christmas movies together, or helping with a big house project.

We live within minutes of Kym’s parents, siblings, and cousins. Kym’s parents, Duane and Pam, are always available to pitch in with the kids, host sleepovers and play games. Between her sister, Jennifer, and brother, Ryan there are 7 cousins to play with, celebrate with, and have sleepovers. The kids get together almost every weekend for play dates or to cheer each other on at soccer games.

Tom’s father, Robert, lives about 3 hours north on Whidbey Island which we visit often. He retired near a small town where he spends his days feeding the deer and watching the birds. Tom’s mom, Lisa, lives in Tucson, Arizona where she enjoys being a guide at a local wildlife zoo. Tom’s sister, Karen lives in Eastern Washington with her husband and 2 adopted daughters, Grace and Sarah.

We live in a small fishing town an hour outside of Seattle, Washington. We often walk the downtown village that lines the bay with quaint shops and marinas as far as you can see. There are several parks nearby, tons of hiking trails, and beaches to explore. Our town is known for it’s good schools, close proximity to cultural activities like museums and festivals, and easy access to the Pt Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.

Our home is in a small, gated community surrounded by a nature trail. We have a four-bedroom home with a playroom and fenced backyard. Most summer evenings you can find Tom at the BBQ with music playing while Joe and Sigmund chase bubbles around the yard. Our neighborhood is very peaceful and friendly with fun activities like annual pumpkin carvings and get-togethers.
