Hello from Germany! We are Liz and Carley. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us! We are grateful to have this opportunity to share a little bit of our story with you. We were married in October of 2020 and from the beginning of our relationship, we have dreamed of having a child together. As a same-sex couple, we always knew that adoption would be the way we grew our family. We strongly believe that family is defined by love and not bloodline. Your child will be loved and supported by our extended family and friends as our own. We recognize that this is not an easy decision- you have our deepest respect, and we admire your strength and courage.

We are ready and excited to welcome your child in to our warm, loving home. We know this profile will only be a glimpse into our lives, but we hope it shows you how much love we have to offer your child.

We are an active-duty military family loving life in beautiful Bavaria! Home is where the Army sends us, so we move every few years, but what’s important to us won’t change- being loving, dedicated moms to our future child. We have support from a large group of friends and extended family around the world. Our friends call us the fun aunts because we love to read bed time stories, bake cookies, and have fun on the playground! We can’t wait to have these moments with our own child.

We met in Tacoma, Washington, Carley’s hometown, after being randomly assigned to play on the same football team. It wasn’t long before we were spending time together off the field going swimming at the beach, trying new restaurants in town, and taking long walks with our dogs. It felt like we had always known each other.

We were so excited to get married- we actually did it twice! We had an intimate, informal ceremony in our backyard with our friends and family, and then we all traveled to Roatan, Honduras for a beautiful beach ceremony.

Our life is filled with laughter and joy- we don’t take ourselves too seriously and love to be silly. No matter what we’re doing, we find a way to make it fun! We have lots of holiday traditions- for Halloween we choose a theme and carve a pair of pumpkins, and Christmas morning we bake cinnamon rolls, and wear matching PJs while we open presents. We can’t wait to share our family traditions with our future child!

Liz is sweet, loyal, intelligent, and so funny! Her sense of humor warms my heart and gives me butterflies. She is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, and with such a serious job, not many people see the goofy side of her. At home, she does silly dances, and giggles when she’s tickled, and sings loudly (and off-key) to her favorite songs. I can’t wait to see Liz make our child laugh with her silliness! Liz has endless energy and loves staying active, she’s really looking forward to being a Scout Leader or a coach for our child’s sports team in the future.

Liz is an excellent provider and cares deeply about making sure our future child has everything they will need- she makes our family a priority.

Carley is smart, kind and loving. She cares about making the world a better place. Her experience as a high school counselor working with teenagers has allowed her to make a difference in so many lives. Carley is a talented community organizer and cares deeply about children. Since we live overseas, she uses those skills to volunteer on community boards, raise money to give scholarships to military children, and help children and families prepare for high school graduation.

In our home, she is warm, loving and supportive. She finds comfort in making delicious home-cooked meals for our family. She has close friends she meets with regularly for coffee and long walks. In her free time, she likes to read, make pottery, and bake. Carley is loving and supportive and will be an amazing mom.

We live in a small German village in Bavaria, surrounded by forests and colorful farm houses. There is a large playground in the middle of our neighborhood, and we have a great mix of American military families and local German neighbors. Most weekends there are festivals in our town square, and we walk there to listen to live music, and enjoy pretzels and bratwurst.

Every Sunday in Germany is a rest day, where we all spend time doing quiet activities with our friends and family. Bike riding is very popular here, so there are lots of trails and bike paths. Carley is really looking forward to teaching our child to ride a bike, and taking family bike rides. Children are welcome at all restaurants and festivals; Germany is really family-friendly and a great place to be a kid!

Our house is at the end of a small cul-de-sac and has a big yard filled with fruit trees and flowers. The nursery is on the top floor next to our bedroom, and has two windows that look out over our neighborhood. Our home has tons of natural light, and plenty of space!

We love to travel and have had adventures all over the world together, we are actually planning a few road trips across Europe to see as much as we can while we are stationed here. We really enjoy the comfort of our home, like putting together puzzles and baking cookies, or ordering a pizza and watching a movie, we value our time together and make sure to get as much of it as we can.

When it’s sunny, we spend all day at the pool playing games and practicing our underwater handstands. We like to walk down to our neighborhood bakery and pick up fresh bread for Sunday brunch. We love attending shows or sports games, we recently went to a Phillies game with Liz’s dad and brother and had so much fun!!

Carley's parents are retired at the beach. They love to fish, take long walks near the water and go clamming. They come to visit us wherever we are stationed, and we always have so much fun showing them around! Carley’s parents are so excited to have another grandchild, and her dad is making a shadow box in his woodshop for our future child so we can save some precious memories!

Liz will be the first in her family to have a child, and her dad is so excited to be a grandpa! Liz’s dad is a retired pharmacist who is now renovating their childhood home. He is looking forward to visiting us when the baby comes, and has offered us any support we might need. Liz’s dad is a soft-spoken, easy-going man who has always been there for us, and we look forward to him being a calm, steady presence in our child’s life.

We feel lucky to have such a supportive village of people rooting for us! When we left the states to move overseas, our lifelong friends immediately jumped in to action and started planning trips to visit us! We love sharing our new hometown with our friends and their kids- it means so much to us to make these memories. We also made close relationships with new friends, and have kept in touch with them even though we now live farther apart. Our friends mean the world to us, and we make sure to stay connected to the people we love no matter where we live.

We have two adorable doggos who are beloved members of our family. Marge is a Pug and Kimchi is a Corgi-mix.

Marge is sweet and loves to take naps on the couch, even better if there is someone to snuggle with her. Carley has had Marge for over 10 years, and even though she’s a senior dog, she is young at heart.

Kimchi is smart, loves treats, and is always excited to take a walk. We have been spending our Saturdays training Kimchi to do lots of fun tricks! She is fun and sociable, and her wagging tail is so wonderful to come home to.

They both love kids and kids love them. Our dogs are an important part of our lives, and have moved around the world with us!

We are so excited to show our future child all the wonderful things this world has to offer! Military life isn’t always easy, but our child will get to experience living in other countries, traveling to far away locations, and meeting people from all walks of life. Military bases are incredibly diverse, and our child would be attending school with children from different cultures, who speak other languages, are from all family types and exemplify resilience. We’re also looking forward to all the little everyday moments along the way — reading before bed, family snuggles, helping with schoolwork, teaching our child how to throw a ball and ride a bike. We will ensure your child grows up in a home surrounded by love and light.

We would love to have an open adoption and want to work on a plan with you that makes you most comfortable and honors your needs for space or connection. We want our child to know about their biological family and where they came from.
