Hello! I am Michelle from San Diego, California. I grew up about two hours north of San Diego and it was always the ‘dream location’ to live and in 2012 I was able to make the dream a reality. I am so lucky to be able to take my pup, Sophie, to the beach and enjoy all that my city has to offer. I work from home and love any excuse to get a change of scenery, whether a car ride, a plane ride or a bike ride. I hope we get to speak and get to know even more about each other. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
Dear Birth Mother...
Why Adoption
I have always been really ambitious and marked my achievements through my professional accomplishments. I had a few serious relationships but have been single for a few years now. While being a mother was in the back of my mind I thought I needed to have a perfect set of boxes checked before I could do it. While I was waiting for the ‘perfect’ set of circumstances the universe started dropping little hints that I was more than capable of being a great parent on my own. I have a great job, I own a home, and I have a village of people ready to support me. I feel more than ever that I have created a foundation of stability and unconditional love.
About Me
I’m an independent, strong and successful woman that loves hard, laughs a lot and wants to take care of my family, friends, and every dog I have ever laid eyes on.
I grew up in California but my parents are from New York so I think I am a perfect mix of California casual and East Coast sensibility. I am part bodyguard and part Mary Poppins, known to have anything you might need in my purse. It’s not an exaggeration, I am a walking CVS. Need a band-aid, no problem. Need some Tylenol, I got you. Need a mint, oh you know I have that covered. I love to take advantage of the sun and beach with a good book and my pup by my side. I like to explore other cultures through travel and I love to bake and craft, especially with my nieces.

My Hobbies
My favorite thing to do is travel to places where I can just chill. I love to travel and experience other cultures and have been fortunate enough to visit Greece, Italy and France. Of all the places I have traveled Cabo is still my favorite. I have been going there for at least one week every year for the past 20 years. It is just a short two-hour flight which makes it easy for
family trips, vacations with friends and occasionally completely on my own. During my last trip I started taking note of all the things I can do with a child, and all of the extras I will need to pack!
After watching too many episodes of Dancing with the Stars I decided to take ballroom dance lessons. I can now salsa, rumba, waltz, two-step and tango. It’s a great way to get the body moving and stimulate the brain. I have yet to perform for anyone, but I am sure I would score solid 5s.
Of all the things I do, I love spending time with my nieces Kadence and Juna. We always have a special project when I come to visit, often including some kind of baking, crafting, and most recently ceramic painting. I cherish my time with them the most and Aunt Chelle days are my favorite memories.
Home and Community
Buying a house in San Diego was always the dream and a few years ago I was able to make it happen. I watched my home get built, picked all the finishes myself and made sure that I had room to have frequent visitors. The number one requirement was a yard for Sophie and I often joke that this is Sophie’s house and she lets me live here. I also made sure there was space for my parents to stay for long periods of time as they like to escape the Arizona heat in the summer. When I bought the house it seemed bigger than I needed but as it turns out I now work from home and still have a room for a nursery. I didn’t know it at the time but I was building and creating my perfect home for my future child. My neighborhood is full of young families and a brand new elementary school opened this year two blocks away. There are plenty of good parks and perhaps most importantly I am only ten minutes away from my favorite spot, the beach.
Meet Sophie
Sophie is not just my dog, she is everyone’s favorite resident. She is sassy, smart and sweet, which means when she gets into trouble I can’t stay mad at her. She has 100 nicknames including Sophie Louise; Sophie Lou; Sophie Girl; Sweet Pea; Poops and more! Even though I know she loves me the most, she pretends to ignore me when Grandma and Grandpa visit. She has been my best friend, coworker and companion for eight years and kept me sane during the pandemic.
More than anything Sophie gave me my first taste of motherhood. Her health and happiness are 100% my responsibility, she really opened my eyes and heart to the rewarding adventure that motherhood will bring.
My Village
In October 2013, my life changed forever when my first niece, Kadence Fay, was born. My kid brother had a daughter and she brought a whole new light to the family. When my brother was little he couldn’t say “Mi-Chelle” so he just called me Chelle so of course I had to be Aunt Chelle for his babies. Juna Mackenzie was born November 21, 2015 and I was a certified “Girl Aunt.” Unfortunately my brother and his wife split up when Juna was two years old and my brother became the primary parent. My mom and I took turns staying with them for at least one week every month for the first few years and although it was a tough situation, a unique and powerful bond was created with my little ladies.
Helping to care for them so closely taught me a lot about what caring for babies looks like day to day and it really lit the fire on my desire to be a mom. While they live in Denver, it is only a quick flight to visit and we see each other at least a half dozen times per year and once their is a new baby in the family I suspect those visits will increase! I am so excited to give them the special ‘cousin vacations’ that we will remember forever!
My mom is the strength of the family and my best friend. My dad is the heart, always the one to mediate any arguments. My brother is the annoying sibling that while still annoying has been an amazing parent role model. We have had our share of challenges and victories and through it all, we have each other.
Last year my dad was visiting me and was diagnosed with Lymphoma (blood cancer), he was in the hospital for a month and there were many days where we didn’t know if he would survive. My mom has always been the rock of the family that got us through these types of crises but this one hit her hard and I had to step up and take care of them both. If you had asked me before if I could juggle the physical and emotional stress of managing doctors, family, and work I would have doubted myself.
But in the moment I had all the tools and courage to handle it all. My dad is in remission now and as hard of a time as it was it gave me the ultimate clarity I needed to know that not only could I handle being a mother, I would be amazing. It was also the ultimate reminder that there was no more time to lose. I was raised in a family that gave me all the experiences and tools to handle life’s challenges and victories and I know I have put all the pieces in place to give my future child everything they need.
My family showed me the way and now it’s my turn to give that unconditional love to your child.
My Traditions
Although I wouldn’t consider myself very religious there are a lot of cultural traditions that I grew up with and love.
Holidays mean family and food. Lots of food. One tradition that I can’t wait for is naming my future child after someone that was special to me. It is our tradition to remember someone who has passed by naming a child after them. It is considered the most meaningful way to pay tribute and continue their memory.
In Closing
You and I already have so much in common. We are two sides of a coin, bonded together in our hope to give this new precious gift the most loving and fulfilled life.
Being courageous is hard but I have learned that often the things that scare me the most are the most rewarding. While it’s taken me longer than some, the universe has been dropping me hints that I will be the very best mom. I know that I am destined to do this. And so now this realist is trusting that fate brought you and I together, united in our conviction to give your child the best life and opportunities.
My wish for us is that we have the peace in our hearts to know that the things that are meant to be will be. We are the ultimate example of what love is.
