Hello friend! Thank you for spending the time to look at our profile and for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We are Nicole and Josh. We live in Seattle, Washington, with our son, Zeke and our dog, Space Ranger. We love being parents and love the life that we have, but we know that we are supposed to be a family of four. We both come from big families and value the bonds that siblings have and the loud chaotic fun of a bigger family. Our son, Zeke, whom we adopted, wants to be a big brother so badly, and is so gentle and loving with his friends’ younger siblings. We can’t wait to meet your child and watch them experience the world and discover who they are.
Dear Birth Mother
On Adoption
Choosing adoption was an easy choice for us. Josh has a sister who was adopted from China, and we both have several cousins who joined our families through adoption. On our first date, we both shared that adoption was the way that we wanted to have a family. Our son, Zeke, has an open adoption, and we are in regular contact with his birth mom. Our top priority for your baby is to make sure that they will always feel safe, loved, and accepted. We can’t wait to see what type of person your child develops into and we look forward to supporting them in pursuing their dreams. We want them to see and experience as much of life as possible, and to develop a love of other cultures, the pursuit of knowledge, and their community.
Our Story
We met online while living in Los Angeles in 2011. Our first lunch date ended up being twelve hours long and included an impromptu Lakers game! We have traveled the world together through public speaking and always took the time for an adventure (like motorcycling through Vietnam!) Since we both work in the entertainment industry, we get to collaborate frequently and really enjoy working on projects together. Whether working on a graphic novel, remodeling a kitchen, or planning a group camping trip with ten other families, we just work well together. Parenting has been our favorite "project" and we truly love making Zeke’s childhood as magical as possible.
Meet Nicole, by Nicole
I moved around a lot as a child and split my time between my dad’s family in Alabama, and my mom’s family in Northern California. After graduating high school in Alabama, I moved to California and attended Sacramento State where I studied film. I became a producer and have worked in Film, Games, Broadcast, and Live Events. After realizing I was almost always the only female in the room, I co-founded a nonprofit that focuses on helping women and people from underrepresented groups get into the entertainment, media, and tech industries. I do a lot of advocacy work for artists and arts education in public schools. I absolutely love my work and have built a career that enables me to have extreme flexibility for raising children.
Nicole's Hobbies
- Planning seasonal group play dates
- Exploring local events
- Making recipes I find on TikTok
- Reading as many books as possible
Nicole, by Josh
Nicole is the perfect partner for me, and I love her more than words can describe. She has this incredible ability to sit and talk to someone and have a deep conversation within minutes. She is an excellent friend, t-ball coach, mentor, leader, but above all she is an incredible mom. She is such a wonderful presence to be around and I can’t wait to raise another child with her by my side. Our children will have someone by their side who cares so much and wants to know everything about them. But not to just know it, but understand it, to nurture it, and to make it grow. I see this in her not only as a mom, but with her friends, her family, and with me. I have grown to be a better person and am so happy with how my life has been since the moment I met her.
Fun Fact
Nicole enjoys entrepreneurship and is very excited to share that with her children. She works with many female and BIPOC founders that are female and people of color as a consultant and looks forward to investing in her children’s future ideas. She has been saving up to launch a vending machine business with Zeke featuring local artists' work.
Meet Josh, by Josh
I grew up in Denver, Colorado in a suburban area near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I went to college in both Denver and Los Angeles, where I studied Animation and Visual Effects for movies and video games. I am Head of Art for a Gaming Company, and my schedule is full, but flexible. I look forward to watching my children grow and learn. I love spending time with kids and love teaching. I can’t wait to see what odd and interesting things that they will love. Will they memorize all the names of the dinosaurs like I did? Or maybe they’ll love the stars and planets, or the sea, or cars and trucks. I love watching kids learn and discover their passions, and I can’t wait to sit on the floor and play pretend with whatever worlds they are dreaming up.
Josh's Hobbies
- Watching films at the cinema
- Playing all types of games
- Spending time with friends
- Traveling to new places
Josh, by Nicole
Josh is calm, cool, collected, and wonderful. He’s naturally good at just about everything and is perfect at explaining how things work in a way that each individual is able to understand. He’s an amazing teacher, a natural leader, and very kind, but equally protective of the people he cares for. Josh loves games and laughing and having a group of people to play a sport or board game with and he is an absolutely wonderful father. I didn’t know it was possible to fall more in love with someone, but seeing how he is with Zeke, and how all of the best parts of him come out in his parenting is one of my favorite things in life. He is the grounding, stable force in our lives and just such a good vibe to be around.
Fun Fact
Josh loves to play boardgames and role-playing games, especially Dungeons & Dragons. He’s so excited to go on fun adventures with his kids, where they can create new worlds with constant in-jokes and memories that will be precious and just for them. He’s been slowly creating a world for them, and has been waiting for them to come of age so they can all play in it together.

Meet Zeke
Zeke is the most extroverted child you have ever met. He’s excited to share his interests with you and loves to go on adventures and play hard. He’s empathic and deeply loves all of his family. He’s very loyal and can’t wait to be a big brother. Zeke has an open adoption, and his "tummy mommy" placed him with us when he was three days old. We talk about tummy mommy regularly and he has always known his story.
Our Hobbies
We love baseball season. The weather is amazing and Friday nights are filled with the chaos of T-ball practice and team pizza nights. Saturday’s begin at the ball park where Nicole’s grandparents come to every game and our parents and neighbors take turns coming to Zeke’s games. Nicole loves co-coaching and Josh works with Zeke on turning his natural talent into being a compassionate teammate. The mix of living life with other families, spending time outdoors, and doing a sport that requires all of us to work together makes for some of our favorite weeks of the year. We love to build things, and do DIY projects on our home. We recently had all of Josh’s family visit and help us build a large deck in our backyard. We feel that building things with our hands is important for us, but also important to show our children that they can make anything they put their mind and body to.
Favorite Traditions
- Yearly vacations
- Farmers markets
- Disneyland, LA
- Winter sports
- Apple picking
- Huge Thanksgiving family gatherings
- Cozy movie nights with popcorn and forts
Home is Wherever I'm with You
We love our home and our neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. It’s welcoming, safe, diverse, beautiful, and walkable to everything we need, including several excellent schools. We walk Zeke to and from school almost every day and have found a really wonderful community. It can often take us close to an hour to walk the six minutes home because we love to visit with all the neighborhood kids and spiders (Zeke’s current favorite thing) we see on the way. We love the seasons in Seattle, the long summer days and the cozy fall evenings. Nicole’s grandparents live nearby and we see them at least once a week for family dinners. Our parents alternate visiting each month and various aunts, uncles, or godparents visit regularly. We value living close to everything. We’re 10 minutes from the stadiums (Go Mariners!) and the Space Needle, 20 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from the mountains.
Love Makes a Family
We have large families spread out all over the place, but everyone comes together for holiday and vacations- and there are always group chats going and FaceTimes happening. Josh’s parents and siblings live in Colorado and Florida. We’re really good friends with Josh’s parents and they visit us every other month. We are so blessed with a million cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who we get to talk to and hang out with frequently. Our children will never be lonely, as there are kids of every age to play with, and several of them are adopted. We all get together at Thanksgiving in a massive group of twenty-five with many being diverse. Nicole’s mom and stepdad live in California with her siblings. Nicole and her mom talk almost every day and “Nana” is Zeke’s “best friend”. Nicole’s dad lives in Alabama with her stepmom. She has sisters in Alabama, Atlanta, and St. Louis. And this is just our nuclear families. We rotate holidays between all of the families, so we don’t go too long without seeing everyone, and we really cherish the time that we spend together.
Thoughts on Parenting
We believe that you come into this world who you are. It's our job as parents to not only provide a safe and nurturing environment with structure and boundaries, but to also listen and observe. We aim to “yes and” the interests and personality traits of a child, and try to give them the opportunity to grow into themselves vs. molding them into a specific vision of who we think they are. We believe that love is unconditional and aren’t afraid to sit in the messy moments that can happen in life. We value teaching kindness, independence, and industriousness. We hope to make sure that a child feels like they belong in any setting and that anything exciting that they set their mind to is “for them” if they put their mind to it and work towards it.
In Closing
We have dreamt of having a big family for a long time. To enjoy the loud chaos of a full house and to watch them grow and discover the world around them. We would love to have an open adoption and to have you be part of your child’s life, if you so wish. We believe that knowing where you come from is an important part of any child’s story, so we would be sure to include any details, traditions, and heritage that you share into their everyday life. We would follow your lead on how involved you would like to be and know that we’re all figuring out this journey together. We promise to love and support your child unconditionally and to always advocate for them. We promise to give them as many opportunities as possible and to make sure they have a strong sense of family, community and self. We are full of love for you and will always be sending you positive vibes.
