Five years ago we decided we wanted to grow our family through adoption. While we couldn’t conceive naturally, it never occurred to us to go through any fertility treatments. We realized we had so much love to give, it transcended genetics and physical features. Our adoption dream is a blend of diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences. Raising your child will enrich our lives beyond measure. We are confident that this is way forward for us.

We’ve been together for 15 years, and married for 10 of those. We live in beautiful Southern California, with our two dogs and a large circle of friends and family.

Rigi worked at an advertising agency for several years, then produced TV spots for a boutique production company in Mumbai. In her heart, she knew she really wanted to study film and write movies.

A thousand miles away, in New Delhi, Anshu felt certain he ought to be studying film instead of working at the architecture firm his family approved of. For a brief time, he even ended up working close to Rigi's residence in Mumbai. But we never met! Then, without telling anyone, he applied to the University of Illinois and got accepted.

We were set up by close family friends. The first time we met, we knew we had chemistry! We travelled to Alaska to explore the possibilities of this new relationship. After some incredible wildlife encounters, glacier hikes and hot kombucha, we began dating.

Anshu travelled between gigs to Los Angeles where Rigi was studying. Rigi juggled coursework to be with him on shoot locations. Three years later, we knew we were in it for the long haul. Anshu proposed to Rigi in Napa Valley over a bowl of Cup-O-Noodles and wine. She said yes!

We love the outdoors, especially the ocean. Surfing with his buddies is Anshuman's way of unwinding. He's a fan of auto racing and his favorite team sport is basketball. He's also a super gardener! He has grown many tomatoes, eggplants and microgreens for us during the lockdown.

Rigi adores the Southern California life. She cooks using the herbs Anshuman grows, plays badminton in the backyard and explores the neighborhood one doggie walk at a time. She is a trained meditation instructor and has created a lovely little sanctuary at home to soak in some white light every day. Lazy, sunny weekends at home are the best.

I grew up in vibrant Mumbai surrounded by extended family. I began rescuing abandoned pups, kittens and birds with broken wings early on. I spent most of my school years learning and teaching karate. I followed TV shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Remington Steel, hiked the Himalayas with my sister and helped my baby brother pass his math exams

After immigrating to Los Angeles 11 years ago, I graduated with a master’s degree in screenwriting. Soon after I began producing international film festivals, working with filmmakers from Israel and India as well as local theaters in LA. I have a stack of TV shows and movies on my desk that I hope will see the light of day soon!

I grew up in an idyllic small town. I remember spending afternoons exploring the countryside with my brother and movie night outings to the local club. We were the first in the neighborhood to get a TV set! My parents threw block parties for the kids to watch Star Trek and Spiderman. When my parents moved to Saudi Arabia, my brother and I went to boarding school. I remember never-ending greenery, learning to swim in the local pond and studying wild snakes and birds housed in the school’s vivarium.

He has a talent for adapting to new situations and finding friends in the most unfamiliar corners of the world. He attracts sincere people and brings out the best in them. The first time we met, I knew he was a diamond in the rough. I sensed enormous potential in him to be a great companion. In our years together and all our extended travels, across country and internationally, he has been absolutely fantastic. He has always looked out for me, been supportive and done everything in his power to make me comfortable and secure.

What I find most charming about Rigi is her ability to laugh at herself at a time when she is most embarrassed, a laugh that lights up the room. She is intelligent and wise, with a childlike curiosity that pushes us to explore, seeking out unique experiences that are deeply fulfilling. A fabulous homemaker, she has meticulously built our house into a lovely home, warm, inviting & full of joy.

We are lucky to live in a quaint diverse neighborhood close to Griffith Park. Our neighbors are an integral part of our lives and are rooting for us to adopt! As for our home, it took sweat & tears to fix but we think it’s coming along nicely. The yard is perfect for a child to ride tricycles or chase after the beagle.

Our wedding in India was a blur of meet and greet. Despite our pleas, our parents invited five hundred guests. Rigi’s nine-yard sari was very heavy. The wedding in Malibu was small and beautiful. Yes, we celebrate anniversaries twice a year.

Rigi’s family lives in the same Mumbai neighborhood that Rigi grew up in. Her father is a retired entrepreneur, a doting grandfather, arthouse cinema fan & gallery hopper. Her mother is her best friend! She is an acclaimed writer who continues to work in her sixties! Her baby brother is an educator & playwright. They live next door to her sister & brother-in-law and their two adorable daughters, Rigi’s nieces.

Anshu’s parents, older brother, sister-in-law and their 2 boys all live together in New Delhi. His father is a retired orthopedic surgeon. He continues to volunteer his services at the local charity hospital. His mom is a home-maker par excellence. Her recipes and hospitality are legendry. They’ve helped raise two grandsons, Anshu’s nephews.

We rescued Byron 2 weeks after we moved into our home. He was 18 months at the time, a 90lbs goofball. He fit right in and has been our truest companion and a great guard dog. Our beagle, Scully followed a few years later. She was a pint-sized puppy fully of mischief and attitude. We were in love! She is named after agent Dana Scully of the X-Files on account of her nose for trouble.

The dream to make a life in the United States was backed by a love for all this country had to offer. We adored the culture, history and landscape and wanted to be a part of it! In the past ten years, we have created a beautiful circle of friends and neighbors, worked at a variety of studios and film festivals, driven coast to coast in our faithful Suburu Outback, parented two dogs and made a home our families and friends love to visit.

Halloween parties & pumpkin carving are our favorite tradition of the year!

Thanksgiving is always spent with our friends and their families. Rigi bakes a mean shepherd’s pie and her dark chocolate mousse is everyone’s favorite.

We celebrate Christmas in a big way with handmade tree decorations & lights around the whole house.

We also celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights marking the Indian new year. We light lamps all around the house & make delicious Indian deserts.
