Hello there and thank you for getting to know us! We are Sara & Tom from West Richland, Washington State. We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for considering us as potential adoptive parents for your child. This is an incredibly important decision, and we admire your strength and thoughtfulness in exploring what is best for you and your baby. We understand this journey is filled with a mix of emotions, and want you to know that your child will be loved deeply and given every opportunity to thrive in a nurturing environment. We are very grateful that you have shown an interest in our family and look forward to getting to know you. We are excited about the potential to adopt a child. As we married later in life, we were unable to conceive a child and find that our little family has more love to give and would love to share that with your child as an addition to our family.
Dear Birth Mother
Getting to Know Us
We are a couple in our mid 40s, married for a little over 6 years, and have a little fur baby named Paco who keeps us busy. When we met, we both agreed to meet for coffee and after hitting it off immediately, we ended up taking a cruise in Tom’s boat on our local river. We both are successful professionals, Sara in the medical field and Tom as a scientist. We love to cook together and every weekend starts with a nice breakfast. We love to garden in our yard, spending many weekends harvesting the goodies we have produced. Many weekend evenings are spent with BBQs or watching sporting events. Tom is an avid outdoorsman and loves to fish for salmon. He also loves watching college football! Sara loves to read, watch sci fi movies, and to bake – especially anything with chocolate!
Hi there! I'm Sara
I have been working as a Physician Assistant for 15 years, currently specializing in women’s health. I am proud to have obtained a Master’s degree and to have spent my career helping people improve their health and quality of life. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, reading, spending time with Tom, and taking our dog Paco for a walk. I have a very fulfilling marriage and career. Once we have adopted, I plan on working part time to be able to spend more time at home raising our child. Having a child would enrich my life in so many ways and provide an exciting and rewarding new chapter for my husband and I.
More About Sara, Written by Tom
Sara is the most dedicated and loving wife that I could ask for. She keeps me focused and makes sure that I finish my numerous projects that I take on, often times jumping in to lend a helping hand or encouraging word. Her favorite thing to do is spend “quality time” together, having good conversation, watching our favorite TV shows, or playing a board game. Every evening after work is family time and she gets in her pajamas and enjoys time with myself and our dog, Paco. She dedicates many hours of her time and her thoughts everyday to making sure both Paco and myself are well taken care of. Sara has a great relationship with our nieces and nephews and is often times a big sister to many of them. I think Sara is going to be a great Mom!
Sara's Hobbies and Fun Facts
- I grew up in Los Angeles and my family spent a lot of time at Disneyland. I have a lot of wonderful memories from those trips and am looking forward to taking our child to Disneyland to create new memories.
- My favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. My mother is from Oahu and I have family living on Oahu as well as the Big Island so we take every opportunity we have to visit the islands.
- I love traveling in general and collect the “wish you were here” mugs from places we have traveled as souvenirs.
- I played the piano as a child and would love our child to play a musical instrument if they are interested.
- I love reading - especially book series such as Harry Potter and the Hunger Games and can’t wait to start reading to my child just as my father read to me every evening.
Hello! I'm Tom
I work as a global director within the food manufacturing sector where I get to develop new varieties of potatoes that are healthier, more sustainable, and easier to grow. Most times I just tell people “I make fries!” I am proud to have graduated from Washington State University with a PhD in Genetics and Cell Biology. I have the ability to have flexible work schedule and work from home a few days a week which will allow me to spend more time with our child at home. I have traveled the world extensively through my work and have had the opportunity to interact with many cultures and people from all walks of life. We have had the privilege to visit many tropical destinations within the US and love a beach vacation! I love fishing and own a boat that I take on our local rivers and lakes to participate in the seasonal fisheries in the area.

I feel very lucky to have found Tom and to be able to share our lives as a married couple. He is kind, intelligent, and has a great sense of humor. I feel that we complement each other very well and are always respectful and supportive of each other. We both believe in the importance of family and are very much looking forward to becoming first time parents. Tom is a “natural” around children and is always able to make his nieces and nephews laugh or to organize a fun activity for everyone. I cannot wait to watch him interact with our future child and all of the wonderful memories we will create together.

Our Home & Community
We live in central Washington in a two level 3 bed, 3 bath home in a safe and family friendly neighborhood. We live very close to the Columbia and Yakima rivers so there are plenty of opportunities for fishing and floating on the river. We plan on teaching our child how to swim at a very young age so they can enjoy many of the opportunities that our area has to offer. Additionally, there are also sporting events, restaurants, and opportunities for hiking nearby.
Meet Our Furry Friend
We want to introduce you to our four legged member of the family, Paco. Paco came into our lives ten years ago, being born on Halloween. He is a Border Collie/Australian Shepard mix with plenty of energy. He is great with children; frequently playing with our young nieces and nephews and is always patient with them. He loves to chase rings or balls and also loves to play a fun game of tug of war! We can't wait to introduce him to our new family member!
What We Hope to Share With Your Child
Sara
- I hope to share my love of animals and traveling with our future child.
- I also hope to pass down many of our family holiday traditions involving Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas and to create new memories and traditions surrounding each of these holidays.
Tom
- I have a love for learning and believe that the best way to learn is to experience things and to push the boundaries.
- I hope to share this love of learning with our future child as well as creating an environment where it is okay to fail just as long as we learn and grow from our failures.
- I believe in the notion to “always make new mistakes” and want our future child to have the support to be able to create and explore in a supportive setting.
About Our Loved Ones
Sara's Family: Sara’s sister just had her first child with her husband in March of 2024. We love to visit them in Southern California and spend time with the new baby. Tom's Family: Tom’s two brothers and his sister all have children and they are all involved in sports, mainly swimming and track and field, and we try to attend as many of their sporting events as possible. All of Tom’s siblings are married with children so we have a diverse group of family to have adventures with.
We enjoy spending time with extended family, including an annual trip home rotating between Sara’s family or Tom’s family for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every year Tom’s extended family gets together for some bonding activities that have been passed down over generations. Fishing for opening day Spring fishing, Autumn sausage making, and a family camp out that brings us all together to work hard, reconnect, and generally to bond with each other!
