Hello! We are Sarah and Michael from Atlanta, Georgia. We are genuinely delighted to share a bit about ourselves and our lives with you! After crossing paths many times growing up, we feel so fortunate to have created a home together. We are excited to begin the journey of making our home a family by loving and raising a child. We can never truly put ourselves in your shoes, but we hope we can give you the comfort of knowing your child would be welcomed into a supportive, warm, and happy home with open arms (and a few paws!). Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our home and our family.

When we began talking about a baby, we both naturally were drawn to adoption. We felt it was a beautiful way to build our family and support another.

We look forward to raising a child together, through all of the joys and challenges, helping them to learn and grow. And we love the idea that you could be part of the process, in whatever way you feel most comfortable.

We first met when Michael crashed Sarah’s 6th birthday party (uninvited!). We continued to circle each other through the years at summer camps and youth groups. But it wasn’t until we re-met through a dating app in our late 30s that we finally sat down and had a real conversation.

And once the conversation started, it never stopped. We love diving deep into any number of rabbit holes, and we always keep each other laughing. It doesn’t matter if we’re walking the dog in the neighborhood, or standing in line at Target, we genuinely enjoy each other’s company and are never in any rush to finish the conversation.

We both grew up in Atlanta and have many family and friends in the area. We enjoy spending time with them at their homes - especially during holidays and other events - or going together to new restaurants. We especially love hanging out with our two nephews, reading and playing games together. We can't wait to introduce them to our own child.

Even though we love time with family and friends, we are both introverts and value the time we spend together at home. In the evenings, you may find us tackling a crossword puzzle or curled up on our sunroom swing reading. We also love a good comedic mystery show and have been making our way through 15 seasons of Murdoch Mysteries since we started dating.

We enjoy taking our dog, Hazel, to explore the many hiking trails around Atlanta or sharing our favorite movies with each other. We both love listening to and playing music; usually Michael likes to curate our “soundtrack” and Sarah picks the genre. And we are both avid Atlanta sports fans.

We cannot wait to share with our child our interests and the people who make us happy.

We live near where I grew up, and I'm fortunate to have my parents and sister and family all within 5 miles of each other. After getting my engineering degree in New Orleans, I spent many years living and working in Boston developing new medical devices. I loved my time in New England, but family is incredibly important to me and the south has always felt more like home. So, I made my way back to Atlanta in 2017, and I now get to hear my 96-year-old grandmother’s stories at our weekly dinner date.

I would describe myself as thoughtful and caring with a silly side. I love to know how things work and also love the arts, reading, humor, and learning. I’ve played viola in school and community orchestras for most of my life, and my favorite part of participating in Jewish traditions is through singing. I am excited to share all of these passions with our future child and help them find passions of their own.

Sarah is an incredibly smart, kind, and capable person. Community and family are very important to her and she is fiercely loyal to both.

She enjoys cooking for family and friends at our home, especially her nephews, who love her multicolored carrots. She lights up when they are around with the biggest smile on her face.

Sarah has always found medicine fascinating, and with the temperament of an engineer, biomedical engineering was a perfect fit. She loves the challenge of developing new products to help patients.

She is a true engineer, analytical and animated by understanding how things work. She is one of the hardest workers I know, and yet still finds time to balance her life with things that bring her joy like yoga and swimming.

She is a wonderful partner and does a great job helping me be the best version of myself, without trying to change who I am, and I know she’ll do the same for our child.

I enjoy reading, especially my favorite, science fiction, and have even written a few short stories of my own. To say my life has gone to the dogs would be an understatement. After seven years as a lawyer, I changed directions completely and became a dog trainer, thanks to Hazel, the high-energy puppy I rescued. In contrast to Hazel, I have a calmer, laid-back demeanor. I am easy going and get along with most people. I love talking with people about interesting topics and can't help but inject humor into the conversation as much as possible, whether it is appreciated or not.

I love both teaching people and training dogs. I enjoy interpreting behaviors, problem solving, and helping families and their dogs have a happier household.

Music has always been important to me. I play the guitar and have music on in the background during most things I do. I can’t wait to share all of these things with my child, and I can’t wait for them to introduce me to all of the things they discover.

Michael is patient, caring, smart and empathetic and keeps me calm and grounded. He loves to use humor, and he’ll often make himself laugh, even before getting out his own joke.

He is both highly creative, and yet also a creature of habit. I love that he takes the time to draw intricate personalized birthday cards, but also order exactly the same dish every time we’re out to dinner.

He is the family peacemaker, and I know he’ll make a fantastic father because of the support and attention he gives to everyone around him. Not only to his family, but also the people he works with, and especially our dogs. He's even honing his coaching skills by teaching me how to throw a ball!

We fell for the charm of our mid-century house when we first saw it, with all its character. Now we have a music nook, a dog treats nook, and our favorite, a sunroom that overlooks our large, wooded, fenced-in backyard. The yard has a patio and ample space for dogs to run around, where Michael likes to do agility training with them. Inside, we’ve slowly made the space our own, replacing older fixtures with modern touches. Sarah loves cooking in our spacious kitchen with its restaurant-style stove. Michael makes a great sous chef and is an expert at cleaning the dishes. We keep our kitchen kosher-style and Michael is a vegetarian, so Sarah spends time finding creative, healthy (and tasty!) meals that we both enjoy.

Our home is in a suburban neighborhood with a cozy, residential feel, but it’s also walking distance to some of our favorite restaurants, shops and even our public library. We enjoy meeting a friend or taking Hazel for a walk in the neighborhood, where we pass by dogs and families of all ages. We also have great parks nearby.

Atlanta is truly a city carved into a forest, with great parks along the Chattahoochee River. It’s a diverse city with many fun and unique neighborhoods.

We love that it’s the type of place where a nod from a stranger is the rule and not the exception. Like any big city, Atlanta has many attractions and opportunities. We enjoy rock concerts and the symphony, art and history museums, and exploring the great restaurants around town.

We have two dogs, Hazel and Bandit. Hazel is our social butterfly who sometimes helps Michael at work. She’s never met a stranger or something tasty she won’t try.

Bandit is more reserved, but has a cute wiggle butt when he warms up. Hazel and Bandit bring so much joy to our lives.

We are fortunate to have many close family and friends nearby, including both sets of our parents. Sarah and her dad share a similar sense of humor and a love of playing music. They also enjoy working on home projects together. Sarah’s mom is nurturing and empathetic and is always helpful for brainstorming recipes. Sarah talks to her sister frequently, and she loves spending time with her sister’s family.

Like Michael, his dad is even-keeled and laid back. He and Michael enjoy going to soccer games together and talking Atlanta sports. Michael’s mom is a wonderful teacher and has an amazing ability to connect with kids. Michael and his mom love to catch up over tea. Michael and his sister are very similar people, and though she lives out of state, they can be found talking for hours.

Sarah grew up with lots of extended family nearby, and she remains close with cousins who have moved around the country.

Michael’s parents did not grow up in the area but made up for the lack of local family with lots of family friends. Michael considers them his aunts, uncles, and cousins, and we still spend holidays and celebrations with them.

Sarah has several close friends in town and stays in touch with friends in many other cities. Michael also remains close with many life-long friends, most of whom still live nearby.

We were both raised Jewish and participated in Jewish community activities like youth groups and religious school growing up.

Sarah likes to take part in synagogue activities and religious services. We also enjoy spending Friday night Shabbat dinners and Jewish holidays with family and friends. We love our connection to this shared history and the rich culture of Jewish traditions.

We are both excited about becoming parents for the first time. Most important for us is to ensure our child feels loved and is healthy and happy. We plan to encourage our child in a positive way so that they can thrive and become the best version of themselves.

Our goal is to communicate openly with our child and give clear explanations so that they feel our home is a safe and stable place. We will do our best to raise our child with a strong sense of themselves, and also an understanding and consideration of others. We will do everything we can to give our child the tools to make good choices throughout their lives.

We will learn from the mistakes we will inevitably make along the way. We know we are not in this alone as we have a community of family and friends around us. We believe in the benefits of open adoption and hope that our birth mother will find a place in our family, in whatever form that takes.

It means so much to us that you’ve taken the time to get to know our family, and we cannot thank you enough. We know this isn't easy and we hope we can give you the comfort of knowing your child will be raised in a loving home with unconditional support. We promise to create a warm, enriching environment that will help them mature into the person they were meant to be in a home with lots of laughter and dog kisses.
