Hello! We are Simone and Steven from Zug, Switzerland. Our dream has always been to grow our family through adoption. Simone and her sister were adopted and their positive experience has been our motivation to adopt a child ourselves. Our family and friends couldn’t be more excited and supportive.

We are passionate about growing our family on a foundation of unconditional love, honesty, and trust.

Our story started in 2010 when Steven decided to take a job in Zug, Switzerland in the office where Simone was working.

Little did he know a planned 2-year adventure in Europe would turn into so much more. We instantly became best friends and enjoyed traveling, hiking, and skiing together. At first, we considered each other best friends, but the whole office already knew before we admitted our feelings for each other that we belonged together. Even though Steven’s rotation ended and he returned to California, our relationship continued to grow. After 2 years of long distance, Steven returned to Switzerland and we got married in 2017. Today we love each other more than ever and continue to strengthen our relationship by deepening our faith, working from home together, walking our dog, hiking, and enjoying time with family.

I was born in Chile and was adopted by loving Swiss parents when I was only 4 months old. At the same time, my parents also adopted another Chilean girl who became by sister.

I am a Director in Corporate Accounting and work 3 minutes away from our apartment. I have a small but tight circle of friends who all live very close by. I enjoy good conversations and spending quality time with my friends and family.

I consider myself as a very thoughtful gift giver and love to watch my family’s reaction while opening presents, especially on birthdays and Christmas. My happy place is having a whole day with Steven and our dog to ourselves, just waiting to see what the day has in store for us.

I can’t wait for the opportunity to show your child all the big and small wonders the world has to offer, to see our child grow and flourish into a loving, responsible, and independent adult always with the knowledge that they are more loved than they will ever know.

Simone is a truly amazing woman, and I am grateful every day that I met her. At first, you’ll notice her wonderful warm smile. That comes from a genuinely friendly and kind person. She is the one who always remembers her friends and co-workers birthdays and loves to celebrate their achievements. She never forgets to say thank you. She’s shown me how to be a better friend; there for you when you need it. She may be a little introverted, but with her friends, she loves making everyone laugh.

I am very excited to see Simone become a mother. I know that she will be caring and thoughtful.

She will be a great teacher, patient and honest. She’s been helping to teach me German, which is definitely no easy task!

She is also prepared for the challenges that may come with adoption. She and her sister were adopted. She knows the questions that come with it. She’s asked them herself. In addition, to her own experience, she has a huge heart that is bursting with love. Her child will always be loved.

I was born in Australia, but moved to California when I was very young. I have two loving parents and an awesome older brother.

Our Christian faith is a very important part of our family and I continue to practice my faith together with Simone. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Accountancy and I worked for 13 years as an accountant in Los Angeles and Zurich. Recently I obtained a master’s degree in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and this year I started a new job as a Sustainability Reporting Manager.

I can’t wait to be a father. I will build up our child with lots of encouragement, love, and laughter. I look forward to playing together, learning together, and creating together. I will always be your child’s biggest fan.

Steven is the nicest person I have ever met. He’s very easy going and his feet are firmly planted. He’s a very supportive and interesting partner. I wouldn’t want to go through life with anybody else. He’s the kind of guy whose glass is always half full. He never loses hope. He gives 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances to people and always believes in the best of everyone. He’s smart, dedicated, loyal, thoughtful, caring, kind and patient. He forgives and forgets easily.

He’s always there to lend a helping hand when needed and does not expect anything in return. His positive outlook on life inspires me and wants me to be a better person. To see the passion he has for his faith, family, friends, and making this world a better place encourages me. I am his biggest fan and he’s my rock, my world and one of life’s biggest blessing. Steven will be an excellent father and will lead our family with wisdom, love, and thoughtfulness.

He will always put your child’s needs first and already loves them unconditionally.

We both really enjoy spending time in nature. Usually this is simply our daily walks with our dog along the lake or through the trails near our home. When we have holidays, we enjoy going up into the mountains for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Simone’s parents have an apartment in the mountains, where we spend many of our weekends. We also love to travel and when we get the chance to go outside of Switzerland, our favorite spots are enjoying natural wonders such as the US’s national parks, the coasts of Croatia and Greece, and the mountains in Austria and Italy. We can’t wait to show our child the world we live in through our travels!

As for sports, we enjoy all kinds. Steven, in particular, loves playing baseball. Together we love watching the local hockey team and downhill skiing events during the winter months.

In addition to athletics, Steven enjoys reading about history whereas Simone prefers reading thrillers. We both enjoy watching mystery shows on Netflix. We both enjoy cooking and eating Mexican food and we’re lucky to live close to a Mexican market that imports all sorts of chiles and spices.

When we’re not out in nature, we enjoy hosting friends for a fondue dinner or a bbq on our balcony.

And we also enjoy getting together with Simone’s sister and letting our dogs run around and play together.

We live in a small town in central Switzerland. Zug is about 30 minutes in between the cities of Zurich and Lucerne. It’s beautiful. Zug sits alongside a lake, just below the mountains. Simone always says it has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Despite being small, Zug is very international, with people from over 150 different countries living here. The people here are welcoming to all nationalities and the schools are filled with children from all backgrounds.

Our home is peaceful, cozy, and inviting. We like to bbq on our balcony and listen to the birds in the trees. We live a short walk from the elementary school, there are multiple playgrounds close by and we are a short walk to the lake and the forest trails in the hills.

Switzerland is one of the safest and cleanest countries in the world. It works to promote a good standard of living for families and provides amble time off for holidays and vacations. It is also famous for its chocolate, cheese, and mountains.

Sumo is our cute little Havanese dog. We adopted him from another family in spring 2021 and love him more every day. He will make a great companion to your child! He is such an affectionate and happy dog.

He makes us laugh with his silly nature and is a child magnet wherever we go. He loves all the attention and is very patient with all the children trying to pet and play with him. He’s simply the best dog anyone could ask for.

We are very grateful to have close relationships with our families. Simone’s sister and brother-in-law live 30 minutes away. We meet together regularly. We have dinner with Simone’s parents at least every Sunday evening and together we all celebrate holidays and birthdays.

Simone’s parents live 5 minutes away from us. They are very supportive about our decision to adopt. They have shared with us many times the story of Simone and her sister’s adoption from Chile and are very excited to become grandparents.

Steven’s parents and his older brother live in California, but we remain close. Despite the long distance, we keep them involved in our lives with regular zoom calls, sharing photos, and a family group chat. Steven’s parents are also deeply supportive of our decision to adopt and couldn’t be happier to welcome a grandchild into their loving arms.

In addition to our family, we are fortunate to have a close community of friends. Our closest friends happen to be Swiss/American couples and we love to share traditions from both countries such as celebrating Fourth of July and Thanksgiving and Swiss National Day and Carnival.

We travel to visit them at least 2 times a year and Steven’s parents come and visit as often as they can.

Being a couple with different nationalities we have a lot of holidays and traditions to celebrate throughout the year. One of our absolute favorites is Thanksgiving which we normally host at our place with our friends and their children.

Another local tradition that has a fixed place in our calendar takes place every February. Choirs walk through the streets serenading newlyweds or engaged couples standing on their balconies. The couples reward the singers with baskets of cookies or wine.

As we prepare for the joys and responsibilities of being parents, we have many hopes for the future. Our greatest hope is that we provide two parents that love our child deeply and our child grows up confident that they will always be loved.

We hope to give your child a loving home by providing comfort, security, presence, patience, humility, and trust.

We intend on making sure to connect your child with their roots and plan to travel to the US frequently.

Our ultimate goal we hope for is to help your child grow into an independent adult who lives up to their full potential and carries the values we sought to instill in them. We know that we will not be perfect parents, but we will be loving parents.
