Our desire to love and raise a child is strong. We have been fortunate to accomplish many dreams together, but growing our family would be the ultimate privilege and dream come true.
We are strong in our love and commitment for one another, and we are ready to share that same love and commitment with a child.

We have been married for over 7 years but together for much longer than that. We met over 15 years ago at a Halloween Party that Austin was DJing. We locked eyes and instantly felt a connection. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history. That Halloween night almost 15 years ago our love story began. After getting married on Coronado Island surrounded by our closest family and friends, we moved into the first home we purchased together. Our home is in a beautiful community with two golf courses and a lake. We are minutes away from the beach and less than an hour away from the countryside.

Our family and friends, nature, & being connected to our community influence every part of our lives. On a typical weekend you can find us taking our dog, Chanel on a long walk around the neighborhood, spending the afternoon at the park or beach with our extended family and friends, playing board games, and cooking in our kitchen. When we first started dating almost 14 years ago, it was that common set of values and interests that drew us together. Zulaykha, has her master’s in Business Administration and is a territory sales manager at a medical diagnostics company where she has been for over 11 years. She helps doctors treat and prevent chronic disease. Austin started his own marketing company where he gets to be creative everyday all while helping local businesses achieve and grow their own businesses.

We come from culturally diverse backgrounds. Austin is Caucasian and Zulaykha is Afghan and speaks Farsi fluently. We are both spiritual and believe the most important thing is to be a good person and to lead with love.

Zulaykha grew up in New Jersey with her mother and grandparents. Her father passed away when she was one and half. She was lucky to have a lot of cousins that she was very close with growing up, so she never felt that she was the only child. She is still very close to those cousins and considers them to be like the siblings she never had. She also had wonderful Uncles that were great male role models in her life.

She has a very large family and they are all very educated, smart and loving. They have over 10 Doctors in their family (Pediatricians, Cardiologists, Oral Surgeons, Dermatologists, Psychiatrists, and more), Teachers, Authors, Engineers, and Entrepreneurs.

Austin is an Entrepreneur and started his own business more than 10 years ago. His marketing firm helps advertise luxury real estate properties and his company has been featured in many publications including the Wall Street Journal. His job allows him the flexibility to create and manage his own schedule and he can work from home when he needs to. Austin grew up in a small town in Upstate New York where his parents and sister still reside. His sister is married and they have two children.

Austin’s parents built a winery and vineyard on the land he grew up on. It has quickly become a tourist attraction where they have thousands of people come visit from all over the country during their open season. Austin and Zulaykha love to go there to help with the family business when they can.

We purchased our first home together in 2015. We live in a safe and beautiful community in a family-oriented neighborhood surrounded by two golf courses and a beautiful lake. We live in a great school district and are within walking distance of a grade school and high school. The city we live in has a small town feel with lush greenery, hiking trails and a close walk to a lake where we often walk our dog, Chanel.

We are minutes away from the beach where we love to spontaneously go to watch sunset.

We have a strong bond with both of our families. There is no doubt in our minds our child is going to have a strong community behind them to love and support them. We see both families regularly, and we are lucky both sides of our family come together for at least one holiday a year, if not more.

We have family on both the East Coast and West Coast of the United States, with some sprinkled in between. We have extended families that are also from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

There is so much love between us, and we know that giving that love to a child is the next chapter of our story. Our struggles to conceive have never diminished our passion to become parents. We both believe strongly that you do not have to share DNA to be a strong and loving family. We have had serious discussions about adoption since we first started dating. We were thankfully both on the same page and felt strongly that adoption would be a part of the path that helps build our family. More recently, we have felt a very strong pull that adoption would be the path that will start our journey as parents.
